If you’re looking for real Brazil Butt Lift Results, then I am really glad you found your way here. I went into my online BBL journey thinking I would just review the product and slim down a little bit, but I had no idea it would change my body as much as it did.
My Background Briefly
After many years of sitting at a desk and living an unhealthy, inactive lifestyle, I was left with large, unsightly saddlebags, a muffin top, and cellulite on almost every part of my body – even the not-so-fat parts of me. Pair that with a much smaller chest, and well, you have me…who happens to have an obvious pear-shaped figure.
After feeling sorry for myself for a while, missing out on any fun in the summer sun and longing for the lean, muscular dancer’s body I once possessed, I knew I had to do something about it – that’s when I decided to do the Brazil Butt Lift workout, an at-home workout program targeted at the area of my body I’d hated for almost all of my adult life – my butt and thighs. While I figured there was nothing that would cure my genetically disproportionate hips, I hoped it would smooth my silhouette some to the point where I could comfortably wear shorts or bathing suit again without feeling entirely self-conscious.
My Brazil Butt Lift Workout Results
I really hate admitting I didn’t believe Leandro’s promise of getting a smaller, sexier body in 60 days. Let’s face it, after putting on years of fat and cellulite, what were the chances it would go away in only two months?! All you ever read is how cellulite is impossible to get rid of, and if you’re pear-shaped, then you will never ever come close to an hourglass figure. So 60 days to get supermodel sexy? I didn’t think so either.
Then there were the issues of Brazil Butt Lift’s Before & After results photos everywhere online. The problem I have with these is that it shows others’ images with the caption, “Before & After” – it doesn’t tell you if the image is the person’s 60 day results or if they repeated the program once, twice, or even longer. While it really doesn’t matter if someone lost 100 lbs overall, looks absolutely fantastic, and it took them over a year to get there (that’s awesome & amazing, btw), I wanted to see just how much the program could really change your body in just one time through – eight weeks only. This is why I chronicled my entire BBL journey for the world to see – so that you really could see how BBL can change your body not only by the final day, but also the real changes from week to week.
Below are just a few more of my 60-day Brazil Butt Lift Before & After results. As you can see for yourself, the Brazil Butt Lift program really can transform your body.
Brazil Butt Lift Not Just a Perfect Butt
If you have no butt, too much butt or are genetically pear-shaped, then the Brazi Butt Lift program is the right workout for you. It doesn’t just help with your tush.
It’s a Total Body Workout…
Too often women who think they need to lose more fat off their arms or their stomachs, not necessarily their butts, never consider trying the Brazil Butt Lift. However, Brazil Butt Lift is the secret to a sexy beach body – from your shoulders to your toes. In fact, my sister commented on how great my arms looked :)
It’s really not only for those lacking the perfect derriere – it helps you lose all unwanted fat and gives you a sleek and sexy silhouette you may have never seen – or not seen in several years :) Just look at the difference it made in my chin (I have a defined jawline once again!), my belly, my calves, my shoulders, my arms, and my back.
BBL is Fun…
The trainer in the video series, Leandro Carvalho, has an awesome personality. He’s fun, he’s energetic, and most importantly, he makes you want to push yourself to your limits as a very encouraging trainer. Combine this with a killer workout that is actually enjoyable to do, and you have an at-home workout program that will get you results and that you’ll want to stick with.
It’s also very dance oriented, which is what initially got my attention. If you like to dance, then this is a great workout for you as it incorporates a lot of hip swings and dance moves – all with a bit of a Brazilian flare. It’s really a ton of fun…
It’s a Great Choice Whether You’re an Exercise Enthusiast or a Couch Potato…
It’s Very Easy to Tone Down to your Current Fitness Level
One of the best things about the BBL workout is that you don’t have to be in top shape to reap the benefits of the Brazil Butt Lift. When I first started, I was out of shape and got out of breath with my heart pounding very easily. Let’s just say I couldn’t finish Cardio Axe without having to walk it out now and then or tone down the moves, not jumping around quite as much or doing the moves as powerfully. Luckily as time goes by and you lose some weight and gain more endurance, the workouts do get easier, and you can really begin to give it your all without settling for less.
Already in Shape?
Of course if you’re already in shape but just want to try something new or really shape up your booty, then the Brazil Butt Lift is a fun alternative to whatever else you’ve been doing. All you need to do is make the moves a little bit larger or jump a little bit higher. Cardio Axe is only as hard as you make it to be. If you’re swinging your hips around, shaking your shoulders and really feeling sexy while you’re doing the workout, then you will definitely get results.
My BBL Before and After Measurements?
The Brazil Butt Lift really works. I still can’t believe the change the Brazil Butt Lift program made in my body – not just my butt. I no longer have saddlebags pushing out, and I can once again fit into the pants I wore several years ago. Even the clothes I wore ten years ago are now too big! Plus, it even got me a sleek, sexy stomach. That’s right…the Brazil Butt Lift will give you a great looking stomach too! Maybe not a ripped six-pack, but a flat toned tummy.

I never thought my body could change so much in only 60 days, but it has – all thanks to Leandro and his unique Brazil Butt Lift workout. While I’m still slightly pear-shaped (nothing I can do about bone structure), I don’t have jiggles everywhere below my waistline. I LOVE my new beach body. And if you think that I happened to get lucky with my results, you’re wrong. There are hundreds of thousands of other women and a few men for whom the Brazil Butt Lift has transformed their lives, and their bodies.
Want to Try the Brazil Butt Lift Today and Change Your Body
If you think you’ve tried every workout out there is to get you the beach-ready body you’ve always wanted and never gotten the results you want, then you haven’t tried the Brazil Butt Lift workout program.
With a healthy, wholesome diet with tasty meals, desserts and snacks, combined with a fun workout that will have you looking sexy in no time, there’s no way it won’t work for you if you follow it. You just have to make the decision to change your body and just do it.
The best part is that if you’re not 100% satisfied with your Brazil Butt Lift results, you have 60 days to return the workout for your money back – no questions asked.

When I decided to buy the Brazil Butt Lift program I figured I could find it at Walmart, but unfortunately it is not available in stores. Hi, do you recommend this program for someone who is pregnant? I’m 5 months, looking to get working out again I’ve been slacking since I got pregnant. Thanks!
Hi Amber, Congratulations! You will want to to talk to your obstetrician before beginning any new workout program. Generally it is advised to not do anything that you could or would not do before pregnancy.
Hello Bethany,
Its that soon to be dreading time of the year, Bikini Season. I have BBL and have previously just lost 6 pounds as a jump start and have been lifting weights the past month, although that has been fun it hasn’t been effective and I know it takes time but seriously after a month I should tell “Oh my quads they’re a little firmer, My inner thigh oh they’re toner.” but no none of these thoughts have popped into my head so thats why I bought BBL to tone up every where. I have it and I have specific areas I want to loose and still have what most women desire Boobs and Butt and genetically lucky for me I have both. I don’t want to loose my boobs but preferably a little junk in the trunk. My butts massive I mean volume wise. Its perky and it well has muscle and fat in it and its toned but I don’t like how big it is. I am a pear shape with an average waist size, and I have started and stopped BBL for the past 5 months and I really just wanna stick this time to get the toned thighs muscular abs and toned booty thats somewhat smaller, and I know genes are a big thing in size but I really just want that motivation and I have cut to eating 1,200 cals a day and that works weight loss wise just not toning and body wise….What are your suggestions for this body type
1.) Pear Shape
2.) Big butt
3.) Wants toned thigh and just all over
4.) Wants to loose another 6-10 pounds
Thank you for your time!
Ho ALlie, Sounds like the classic.combination schedule would be a good place to start. Here is a link to an article that I think could help. https://thefitnessfocus.com/brazil-butt-lift/whats-your-butt-type-explaining-the-booty-blueprint-guide Also, here is the link to the original bbl workout schedules that I did. https://thefitnessfocus.com/brazil-butt-lift/brazil-butt-lift-workout-calendar
I stopped doing BBL due to school for the past 2 weeks and slacked on counting calories. I have began it again! I have lost 8 pounds on my own. And I want BBL to help me to reach my body I want. What are your tips on tracking calories and not slacking on workouts. I know my WHY and I’m very motivated at the moment.
Hi Allie, You could use myfitness.com to track your calories. My best tip to sticking to your workouts is to schedule them into your day and make a promise to yourself to do them. It may not seem like it now, but after sometime you will begin to look forward your workouts.
Hi Bethany Lynn, congratulations on your results and such a fantastic website.
I’ve got a tear in my annular fibrosus (I’ve already read your review of Piyo) like you. I started with the 21 day fix but found the exercises (even the modifier) aggrevated my back and my two other weak areas; my neck and my knees. I’m now debating whether to try Piyo or BBL. I’m about 30lbs overweight, do you have a recommendation as to which one would be good to start next? Is there much high impact in BBL?
Hi Angela, I would say PiYo if it is acting up on you. PiYo has a lot of core work which will protect you back and it can also help with posture which should also help. Of course you would also want to talk to a medical professional also.
Hey Bethany! I was wondering if you thought it would be okay to do 45 minutes on the elliptical in the morning and bbl in the evening, or would that be too much? I’m trying to lose 15 lbs in the 8 weeks and I’m worried that the bbl might it be enough to reach my goal. I’m 21, 5’8, and 140.
Hi Andy, BBL alone should be enough, BBL is a tough program. If you do decide to do both be sure to make sure your diet is spot on and cut back if you like you are doing to much.
Your results are amazing!! I am currently around 140 and I would love to lose 15-18 pounds…i carry a majority of my weight in my lower body and I am going to follow the pear (slim and shape) program. I am kinds shapeless in the front but my silhouette I have a little bubble butt. Do you have any tips on staying on track with workouts, how to become more shapely (curves) and my last question how to be motivated!! I have told myself it’s only 60 days and an hour a day!! Thanks!!
Hi Allie, Schedule the workouts into your day. Making them a part of your daily schedule will keep you on track. Motivation is different for everyone, remember the reason “why” you started. Bethany
Hi. Congrats on your results, they are amazing.
I am a girl, age 21. I finished my first month with BBL. I have your booty type, but I am slimmer in my upper body. My mom has always told me that I am a pear shape and that it will NEVER change. This has made me hate my body. She says even though I may lose weight, I will always have this large butt.
Keeping this in mind I started doing the schedule for pear shaped. I just think now my butt grew even bigger behind. So I changed for the too big schedule and I am on my first week. I have been working out with other cardio programs (not beach body ones) for about 7 months before BBL and have been able to workout with the speed of the girls in bbl videos as well as go lower and push harder when leandro says so. But three weeks away from my 60 day challenge, I don’t see the results I wished for. I have barely lost 1 cm in my butt. I don’t think any miracle will happen for 3 weeks, when the results of 5 weeks are so discouraging. I can’t afford to follow bbl meals, because I don’t find most of the ingredients in my country, but I try to eat as healthy as possible. I have quit fast foods for a year and sodas or other processed food. So, what’s the matter with me? Is my mother actually right?
Hi Eli, I would try to focus the best you can on your diet. Try for whole foods, avoid foods high in sugar and try to eat a balance of fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins.
Hi, well done, you’ve got a great result. I just finished the 60 days today and I’m so happy that I got to the end. It was a very challenging program at the beginning, but I kept persisting and I’m glad I did. Before starting this program, I completed the p90 program. I decided to do the BBL because my butt has cellulite and i was hoping to get rid of it from doing this program. I havent noticed too much of a change with the cellulite, but my butt has lifted and my stomach has never looked so ribbed. I was wondering if you found others that didn’t get rid of the cellulite from doing this program and what advice you gave them.
I’ve read a little about cellulite and it looks like it could be a bit genetic as well as your skin type.
Hi Ange, Congrats on finishing! Cellulite never really goes away. it’s appearance is just diminished. One recommendation I do have is if you are not doing this yet is to try and drink a gallon of water daily. I found this really made a difference in my skin. Bethany
Hi Bethany :)
I read that you ate 1400 calories on the plan and I was wondering what you would recommend for me. I was thinking 1400 calories but I spend my day at a desk job and don’t get to do a lot of walking during the day. Do you think I should still stick to 1400 and maybe try to sneak some jumping jacks every hour to keep my blood moving? Or maybe 1200 calories? I’m 23 (if that matters) and we have the same exact beginning stats! I’d absolutely love to reach your results
Also, do you know how many calories you burned on the workouts?
I think I tend to over think things a bit but I calculated my (estimated) caloric deficit and it came out to be 400+/-, if I stick to eating 1400 and burning an average of 400 per day. Then when I multiply that by 30 I figure I’d be losing 3.5 lbs a month.. do you think that’s right or is math not a weight loss expert? :P It’s just if that’s true it would take me almost 5 months to reach 125 lbs.. but at the same time you got from my start weight to my goal weight within 2 months! Leandro must have some sort of math defying secret haha :) But do you have any thoughts on that? I know I’m over thinking but I can’t stop wondering how that works..
Anyway, thank you for this blog! You’rea huge inspiration :)
– Ana
Hi Ana, Sounds right to me. You will also lose some water weight too. I would not get caught up too much in the numbers, the sooner you start the quicker you will your goal.
hi bethany, amazing results by the way! i am wanting to lose about 25 pounds before may (PROM TIME) i have the bbl and when my heck tick basketball schedule calms down i will begin the bbl. i am doing the pear program then big solution program. i have no shape in my thighs and i have a big booty which is a little lifted. do you have any tips on losing th weight fast and getting great shape/definition like you did? thanks -alyssa
Nope, slow and steady is best because you will keep the weight off.
Hey Bethany!
Your story is very inspiring and because of this I am trying the Brazil Butte Lift! I have been doing Insanity and P90X on and off for years, and I have seen results but since I am so short I gain muscle very easily and get bulky. I hope Brazil Butte Lift can provide the results I am hoping for, but I did see on a page something called Leptiburn and was wondering if you tried this with your diet and exercise routine? If not, can you provide me with some supplements, vitamins that you have used to create your overall success? (I have used Shakeology before, and I don’t think that is my answer) I have major saddle bags with a booty so I am so eager to get the results I am wanting before my wedding on May 22!!
Thanks girl!
Hi Becky, Honestly, I am not a fan of fat burning pills or whatever miracle pill the fitness industry is pushing next. I believe in eating a whole foods balanced diet and exercise for weight loss and long-term health. The only supplement that I use is Shakeology, I like that it is made from natural foods and not man made ingredients, I also believe it fills in any nutritional gaps my diet might have. Other than that, I take a single vitmain-d softgel daily. Bethany
Hello!
I need help deciding between P90x, Insanity, and T25. I’ve tried all three at some point and also have equipment.
I am 23 years old, 5’5″ and 155 pounds. I lost about 70 pounds in about a year with diet. My trouble areas are arms, stomach, and thighs where it looks like loose, flabby skin.
I want to commit to one program, which do you think is the best to lose more weight while toning?
I have a wedding in June that I want to prepare for!
Hi Sabreen, Nice weight loss! Sounds to me like P90X might be the best program for you at this time. It will help tone while you continue to lose weight. But, more imporatant than the program you choose, is sticking with it. -Bethany
I was just reading through your blog. I have completed many beachbody series workouts. I am just curious, What is your favorite program? I like all of them p90x, p90x3, turbofire, etc. My favorite overall I believe would be Tony’s old power 90 workouts. I guess just because it is a top to bottom workout IDK . so just curious, what is yours.
Hi Mary, I’m one of those that always thinks the current program they’re doing is the best. However even though I am LOVING MAX:30 right now and can already feel a huge change in my cardiovascular endurance, I would have to say PiYo is my favorite. I like that it made me feel and look more athletic afterwards. While BBL was super fun and awesome for toning my tushy, as well as helping with the initial weight loss, PiYo is more elegant and fluid, didn’t involve jumping – only classic strength-based yoga and pilates moves, and was really easy to follow if you’re a begginer because there is a modifier whom you can watch. I hope this helps! Bethany
Hi Bethany! I just began BBL as my New Years resolution I have no shape to by body but I’m a definite pear! Any tips on the BBL I kinda have the problem you had lean legs then hips!! Thanks
Hi Katherine, I think tracking progress via pictures and measurements is really key with BBL. Good luck. Bethany
Bethany, are you still coaching? I am a 53 year old mother of 7. I am looking to get fit and healthy. I am at a decent weight but need to firm up. I struggle with consistency. I need someone who can hold me accountable and motivated. Your results are awesome. My hope is that you can help me to get similar results. I have bought several of the BB workouts including p90x, Insanity, Turbo Jam and Brazillian Butt lift. I have never had a coach. I may have been assigned one years ago but I have never used them. I have started all of the workouts but have never gotten past the second or third week. Can you help me? Erin
Hi Erin! I am still coaching, and I would love to help you reach your goals this time around. If you are interested in making me your coach, I have an article here that easily explains how to do so. After that, just let me know, and we can talk about getting you into this month’s Challenge Group if you’re on Facebook. And even if you’re not on Facebook, we can definitely still do this and get you in the best shape of your life (and make sure you stick with it this time!) Thanks! Bethany :)
WOW!! You look amazing, I have the same problem you did big hips and thighs, I bought the program a little over 18 months ago and haven’t had time to do this!! I am a full time student with basketball everyday and volleyball 2x a week do you have any tips on squeezing in workouts ? I planned my week out and I have 5 days to workout. Will I get good results by still only working out 5 days a week?
Hi Allie, thank you for your kind words. You can look great, too – it just takes a little time.
With your current crazy schedule, five days a week is good enough to get you real results. If you have the time to do two workouts in one day, I would follow the Combination schedule, but if one half hour is all you can spare, then definitely follow the Too Big plan. And remember to track your calories and eat healthy. Diet is as important as the actual exercises. Good luck! Bethany
Ok thank you so much!! That really helps I’m going to manage my time and do the pear shaped plan for the 1st month. Do you recommend doing it twice or what for the 2nd month?Did Bum Bum today with ankle weights!! Will feel it tomorrow
Hello again, Allie! I would do the combination schedule if you can for the second month, but if time will prevent you from being able to do the double workouts, I would suggest following the Too Big solution for the second month just to prevent boredom and keep your muscles guessing.
And congrats on using ankle weights for Bum Bum – that is really something to be proud of! Seriously, nice job! It’s always important to keep your body guessing by challenging it each and every workout :) Bethany
Hi again! I’ve consistantly been doing the pear BBL for a week. I feel like I have more endurance now but when should I begin to see results. I don’t have a shaply body but I am a pear (wide hips) do you have any tips.
Hi Allie, That is great news! Cardiovascular endurance is the first sign of progress. As for physical results, it is different for everyone, here is a link to a post for further information – https://thefitnessfocus.com/fitness-tips/how-long-do-i-have-to-work-out-to-see-results
I have had BBL for about a month now and have not started it :( After seeing your results…I want to start tomorrow!!! Do I do the 6-day Supermodel slim down starting tomorrow along with the first workout?
Hi Katelyn, yes it can be done that way. Just take it a little easy your first few workouts as your body gets used to the exercises. -Bethany
Hi Bethany,
My name is Sheena and i live in India. My current measurements and your before BBL measurements are almost the same. So i ordered BBL. But I find it really difficult and exhausting. I just wanted to ask you that do we need to do both the workouts for the day together that are given in the classic schedule. I am not able to even breathe properly after completing bum bum. Did you do the workouts together that were prescribed for that day as per classic schedule. Also please help me out with the timings of your workout. If you did it as the first thing in the morning. Then did you eat something before your workout as well. Sorry to bother you with so many questions. Kindly reply ASAP. Dying to get a body transformation like you. Thanks
Sheena
Hi Sheena, bum bum is likely the hardest workout and still leaves me gasping for air. To answer your questions: you can do the workouts back to back or seperate them. I did it both ways depending upon my schedule. I did not do BBL in the mornings. If you do workout in the morning you can workout out fasted or you could try a small snack, it really depends upon the person. -Bethany
Hello, I have a few questions, I’m sorry if you have previously answered them, but there were just to many to read through. First off I am a 32yr old mother of 3 , 5’7″ and currently 160lbs. I have never been a fan of working out so have not done so for many years, I have always lost weight by cutting back on what I eat. I lost 70lbs 3yrs ago after my last son with no working out….but its not working for me anymore (guessing age has something to do with it). Last summer I was at 140lbs and need to get back in that range. My shape is similar to yours so when I saw this blog I got excited. First question is would this be the right exercise program to start with? Second question, I have a friend who has the bbl video only that I was wanting to borrow. What kind of exercise equipment do I need to get? Third, how many times a week do I do this workout & how long does it take? And last, should I add any other workouts to this when just starting? Thank you so much for your input and you look amazing!
First of all, thank you so much for what you do and being available to answer all of our questions..what a help!! I was wondering about something, and if you addressed this above, I apologize for asking it again. I just started Brazil Butt Lift 2 weeks ago, with the first week being the 6-day slim down. I just finished my second week. I have been following the diet plan very closely. I haven’t had any junk or any junk snacks, except for maybe frozen yogurt once in 2 weeks! I am feeling discouraged because I have only lost 1 pound so far!! Just to help, my stats are: 30 years old, 5’9, 140lbs. Is it normal at the start of a work out to not lose much because of muscle building, etc? I have done Insanity in the past and have done different programs and running in the past as well, so this is not the first time I’ve ever exercised. However, I am 6 pounds heavier than I was 7 months ago, and can’t seem to get it off no matter what I do. Is almost seems the more calories I count, the less I lose. Anyway, just looking to see if maybe I’m doing something wrong, or if just takes time to get the weight loss started. Thanks!!
Hi! Is it okay for my daughter to do this workout? She is Definetley not overweight but says she would like to shed some pounds off of her tummy and thighs! She is 14 years old and participates in softball and volleyball right now. Thanks! Also. Do you have any ideas for a “diet” or foods she should eat while doing it?
Hi Martha, unfortunately she is not old enough at only 14 – she should not be lifting weights at that age because it can be harmful to her development. Going for a speedy walk would be a healthier alternative or taking up a sport, which is also great for developing team-building skills. Hope that helps!
Do you think that having a cheat meal every 4 or 5 days will be okay while doing the BBL? Or do you think it would ruin my results? I don’t like depriving myself so I just wanted to ask advice from someone else and get their thoughts on it. Any comment would be appreciated!
Hi Alyson, having a cheat meal every 4 or 5 days is way too often. If you absolutely cannot control your urges, succumb to only one cheat meal or less each week (but make sure to keep within a normal calore range – it’s not about bingeing, it’s about eating something less than healthy). But honestly, you’re not going to get the best results you possibly can than if you didn’t eat junk food. Deciding to eat healthy can be tough, but you have to really know you want to commit to it. Instead of longing for a hot fudge sundae, try having an ounce of dark chocolate or some sweet berries in plain yogurt. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be about depriving yourself with boring foods, it should be about eating healthy foods that satisfy you and your cravings.
Hi I’m having difficulties performing the High & Tight floor mat movements with the weights – the clam shell etc I feel like it’s targeting my calves maybe a bit of my front thigh but feeling nothing in my glutes. Did you have this problem?
Hi Annie, no I felt it in my butt, especially the clam shell.
Be sure that you have the exercise band correctly positioned and really concentrate on your form. I know in the videos they leave the ankle weights on when doing the resistance band exercises, but remove the ankle weights for those and just use the band. Taking the ankle weights on and off might be a pain, but I think it will help with your form. -Bethany
Hi Bethany,
I just started about a week ago, and every time I do a workout I feel as though I am not going to get anywhere. I literally have the same body as you did and it depresses me everyday; to the point its hard to control my crying. I hate my saddlebags my cottage cheese legs and my huge thighs. I’m 5’7 waist is 26 1/2″, hips 33 1/2″, Butt 37″, and thighs (single leg) 23″. Can you help me to reassure myself?
Also, should I do other workouts along with BBL?
Thank you,
Katy
Hi Katy – first of all, you need to stop focusing on the negative. You will never be able to reach your goals if you don’t believe you can. I know it’s hard when you’re feeling sorry for yourself. I also had days like those when I would look at myself in the mirror and wonder how I ever got there. But then I realized that it was never going to change unless I did something about it, which is when I finally decided to do BBL and stick with it.
And if I can do it, you can do it too! I’m not special. In fact, your shape is exactly like mine, so there is no doubt in my mind you can look just as good, if not better than I did by the end. It just takes commitment for the full eight weeks, but if you really believe you can, you will.
You just need to empower yourself and give each workout your all. Every workout, try to envision how you want your body to look at the end of the program and how these workouts are going to help you get there. But remember, diet is just as important too.
Seriously, so you have saddlebags, so what?! I had them too, and so don’t hundreds of thousands of women. They’re not permanent. You can get rid of them, you can change your body…they don’t run your life – you do. So, take ownership, get in a positive frame of mind, and kick your saddlebags in the butt…literally! If you keep with the program and eat right, you will get the body you’ve always wanted…I promise. You just have to stick with it, use the heaviest weights you can safely use for each and every workout, use ankle weights, and you will see real results. I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have any questions. Good luck, and keep going! You’re doing a great job!
PS – Just follow BBL’s combination schedule. Anything else will be too much.
Thank you so much, this has and will help me stay strong; not just for the eight weeks, for the rest of my life. You are right, I am not the only women out there that has those dreadful saddlebags. I can, and I will do this! Thank you so much again for these strong, meaningful words (:
Hi Bethany,
Your entire website and achievement is awe-inspiring. I made it a point to go through each and every article..Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am planning to start the Slim & Lift Schedule from Monday…past 5 days have been trying out each routine. I just need to ask you two questions..Is it necessary to practice 2 routines at the same time or can I practice them as morning-evening routine? Can I conitnue doing yoga along with this schedule?
Thank you so much once again for your website…and hopefully soon I will have similar results
Hi Biatrix, you can split the workouts into morning/night or do them back to back, whatever works best for your schedule. And, yes you can continue with your Yoga practice. -Bethany
Bethany, Thank you so much for replying…Today is my first day , as I have a pear body shape, have decided to go ahead with Slim n Shape. Planning to workout during evenings, so am looking forward to my Bum Bum time:-)
I tried becoming a member with beachbody, but unfortunately India does not show in the country option..Please advice me how can I become a member and have you as my coach?
Warm Regards
B
Hi Bethany,
I had seen the BBL advertisement on TV but it wasn’t until I read your review and had seen your pictures that Idecided to commit myself and purchase the program. I’m midway through completing Week 4 of the Slim & Lift Program and I’m having some great results (already lost 7kg with the help of the 6 Day Supermodel Slimdown Plan). But I just wanted to know for my final 4 Weeks do I start back at Week 1 of the Slim & Lift program or should I move onto the Combination program starting from Week1. I just want to make sure that I’m using the best program in order to receive maximum results. I’m hoping you can give me some direction as I never received the 60 day calendar that they advertised. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
Hi Sandra, awesome results! You are supposed to switch to the combination schedule to begin week five. But, if you are seeing results with the Slim & Lift schedule repeating might be better and if your results start to stagnate then you can switch to the combo schedule. -Bethany
Hey Bethany! I just turned 20 and about a month ago I weighed myself and was crushed to see that I reached 151 pounds. Over the past few weeks I’ve been walking about a mile and a half to two miles every other day and have been eating clean with the acception of a tiny bit of desert every once in a while. Since then I believe I’ve gotten down to about 148-149. I’m 5’6 by the way.
Anyway, this last week I’ve cut out desert and I started bbl on Monday. Well actually I did Mondays work outs and walked 2 miles Tuesday. I think I pushed myself too hard on Monday because I have to pull myself out of chairs and can barely roll over in bed! Bending over to feed my dog is even difficult. Maybe I’m just being a baby about it.. But when I was doing Bum Bum I could only do half lunges and half squats. After a certain point my legs were practically giving out on me and I was having a hard time with balance. :( I’m trying not let it discourage me though! I was thinking tonight I might do the ab video and attempt bum bum or high and tight and if it’s too hard do some stretching and give it another shot tomorrow. I’m hoping I’ll build up a little more strength and endurance and get more comfortable with the moves and then restart the combination plan next Monday. What are your thoughts?
My ultimate goal is to become healthy and fit but I would also be so happy if I could break 130 by April. I have spring break and a wedding that month. Do you think that would be possible even when I’m this out of shape?
I’m sorry this is so long! Thank you so much for your website, it has really motivated me to become healthier!!
– Savannah
Hi Savannah – Bum Bum is a hard workout – no doubt about it. I hated that workout in the beginning when I couldn’t do it. Not only did the moves hurt, I couldn’t keep up with the workout cardiovascularly. My advice: don’t worry if you can’t finish the workouts in the beginning – I couldn’t either! I paused the DVDs and/or walked it out when I had to. My advice would be to do real lunges and squats like they do to get the most out of the moves, but don’t do as many/go as fast as they do. And if you really are that sore, don’t worry about jumping back into the workouts. Do what you’ve said and work another body part until your legs feel better. I’d do Tummy Tuck and Cardio Axe (High & Tight will hurt too much!) for now and restart the program next Monday. You can walk too, if you feel like it, because that will help loosen up your tight muscles.
The best part is that you’re keeping a good attitude and are not going to quit – you just have to push through it and do your best. That is the only way you’re going to get your body the way you want it by April. The good news is that with time and with each passing week, you really will build endurance. Before you know it, you’ll be finishing Bum Bum with no problems…well maybe not without a little bit of work, but you’ll be finishing it :) And remember, diet is everything – you will never have a perfect body without watching what you put into your body – while I wouldn’t recommend depriving yourself entirely of things you love…do so in moderation and really keep track of your calories online. You should be eating no more than 1400 calories a day until you reach your goal weight. Good luck!
Hi Bethany!
Thank you so much for the reply :) I did what you said and exercised the rest of that week and restarted the monday after and now I’m half way through week two!! I’m so happy and proud! That very first day was the only time I got painfully sore, now I just ache a bit but I’m happy I do! I’ve also been very proud of my diet! I’ve been averaging about 1300 clean calories a day.
Anyway, week two has been kicking my butt. I’ve been trying to push myself a bit more each day. Yesterday was my first time using the resistance band on H&T and I’m not really that sore per say as my muscles are tired (if that makes sense.) I was just doing Bum Bum and my heart rate monitor was saying 178 and I was having to walk it out and go slower than usual. I wasn’t even doing it as well as I have been previously so I’m a little confused as to why it was so difficult this time. But I finished it and tried my best! I think I will save Sculpt for this evening.
Sorry for the rant! Here’s for my question.. I hope it isn’t confusing!
This weekend I’m going on a trip and I’ve planned it so I’ll be back early enough Monday to get my workout in but Saturday and Sunday I’ll be so busy that I don’t think there’s anyway I’ll be able to. I will be walking a good bit on both days though! I’m doing the Classic schedule twice, by the way. Do you think it would be okay if I did this Saturdays H&T on the fourth sunday of the program along with a walk and then did this Saturdays Tummy Tuck on the 6th Sunday along with a walk? I’d do both on the fourth sunday but I’m not sure if I should do Tummy Tuck three days in a row.
Thank you for all of the motivation and advice!
– Savannah
Hi Savannah, honestly I would just skip the workouts. It’s not going to make any difference by the time you hit the sixth Sunday. Just get in as much activity as you can this weekend and eat clean. It happens – just move on…don’t worry about it.
As for feeling more tired this week than last week, it could have anything to do with the variety of different food groups you’re eating to hormones to stress levels, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just make sure you’re taking a multivitamin to supplement any vitamins and minerals you might be missing out on. And btw, Bum Bum is a really hard workout. I’m telling you…I couldn’t even finish it all the way through until the sixth week. Just do your best. Hope this helps – keep up with the good work!
Hi, I am really interested in purchasing BBL. Which kit do you recommend? I’m leaning toward the plus kit because it has those extra workouts. I’m pretty petite naturally, but I am really unhappy about my upper thighs and saddlebags. This seems like it would be a good workout for those stubborn areas.
Hi Melanie, I used to recommend the base kit to everyone, but now I recommend the deluxe plus kit as it contains everything you need for the workouts! And, yes it is the best workout program I have done for the upper thighs and saddlebag areas.
Hi darling, well done on your results! You look fabulous!!
I am exactly your measurements before you started Except I’m 26 on the waist, so I look like a balloon :( I am amazed by your results!!! 34 hips? Thats like a dream!! I’ve been trying to get to 37 for years as well! Hoping this bring good things for me too!
I have bought this DVD and can’t wait to get started! I’m scared though, my fitness isn’t great.
Did you enjoy buying a whole new wardrobe? ;) Something hopefully to look forward to!
Hi Kate, thank you for your compliments. I have to tell you, I did have to buy new clothes, because going down from an 8 to a size 0 or 2 (depending on the manufacturer:)) is apparently a big enough difference that none of my pants or skirts would stay around my hips – they would literally fall off.
If you watch what you put into your body, follow the Classic schedule, and just do your best each and every workout, you can get the body you’ve always wanted and be shopping for new clothes in 60 days. Don’t worry if you can’t do the workouts in their entirety when you first start out… I couldn’t. I was quite literally a couch potato before BBL. I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without my heart rate spiking. Just pause the dvd or walk it out when you need to and don’t do as many reps or jump as high as they do. No one is judging you, so don’t judge yourself – you are your own worst enemy, so don’t let negative thoughts get the best of you. Just do the best you can and stick with it! With each passing week, you will notice a difference in how far along you can go through the workouts with having to pause the DVD or walk it out, because your endurance will build with each passing week. Before you know it, you’ll be finishing the workouts and laughing when you look back on how you weren’t able to make it through 10 minutes of the workout when you first started. Good luck – if you have any questions, just ask.
Good luck – you can do it! Just go for it, and you will not regret it :)
I I am currently doing the booty workout. I just finished week 1, my legs are feeling pretty sore. what would you do to relieve the soreness? I am currently eating healthy and following the program for the flat booty, another question I have is when you were doing the workout Brazil booty were you also doing other things to lose weight such as running or any cardio? I know the workout gives you one day to recover on those days would you do any types of exercise or just relax? Final question were you want any specific diet during your journey? I’m very motivated and just want to get the best results!
Hi Merissa, to cut down on soreness, make sure you’re warming up and stretching enough before and after a workout, and that you are eating enough protein accompanied by a healthy, well-rounded whole foods diet. You can even take a nice warm bath to alleviate muscle soreness – it gets the blood flowing to ease any aches. The good news is you’ll begin to feel less sore as you continue to work out.
On my off days, I did yoga or took the dogs for a long walk. I did not do extra cardio on those days. For diet, I did do the 6-day supermodel slimdown and followed the BBL diet for some of it, and then I followed a whole foods diet, cutting out refined carbs and sugars and eating in healthy ratios of proteins to carbs to fats. I tried to stay away from food after 7pm and only ate grainy carbs one time per day. I ate lean proteins, lots of veggies and fruits, nuts, natural peanut butter, and brown rice or oatmeal. I also drank Shakeology for at least one meal per day. I would mix it with frozen fruit or peanut butter (depending on flavor), and it was yummy! If you have the money, it’s honesty worth it, since you don’t have to make one meal of the day, and it’s super healthy. If you’re interested, you can read more about Shakeology here or purchase it here. I hope this helps. Good luck!
Hi I have purchased bbl bbl workout 1 1/2 years ago but never started. I finished p90x last year and got pregnant so now I’m a breastfeeding mom of 4 month baby boy and would want to start bbl but I am not sure if I can while breastfeeding if its not not affect my milk supply. Thanks.
Hi Marta – it is entirely safe to exercise while still breastfeeding your baby, but here are some tips to follow:
1. Feed your baby before you work out. It will not only help settle your little boy, so you get a quiet, well-focused workout, but getting your milk out before you work out will also be much more comfortable for you, because your breasts won’t be engorged with milk – which leads me to #2.
2. Wear an extra supportive, high quality sports bra. An extra supportive bra will not only keep the girls from bouncing around and becoming very uncomfortable, it will also help reduce nipple friction.
3. Drink extra water. It is imperative to stay hydrated, so make sure to drink 2-3 additional glasses of water before and during your workout, so you don’t get dehydrated. Dehydration will reduce the water from your milk supply and leave you feeling less than comfortable.
4. Lose weight slowly. You can safely lose one pound of fat per week without compromising your milk supply.
Good luck – if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks for the answer. How about the diet plan? I was thinking to start with 6 days slim down plan but not sure if this is ok to for me and also I was reading that I need eat more calories when breastfeeding.I am totally ok with changing my eating habits because I did this before with p90x I stick to the diet maybe not 100% eating what is in a diet plan but I eliminate sweets and and eating healthy. Now I started again eat all this junk and looking almost same how it wos before p90x.So I am more than ready to loose weight and start program. I hope that sticking to the diet will not affect my milk supply.Omg I cant wait to look sexy again!
Hi Marta, don’t do the 6-day slim down if you are breastfeeding. Just concentrate on eating healthy foods and the less processed foods you consume the better. For starters, I would try to avoid unnatural sugar, and then try to start eliminating foods that contain salt or white flour. -Bethany
Hi Bethany,
I am planning to buy BBL, but i’m wondering if this program can help me.
i don’t need to lose weight coz im only 110lbs, my problem is my flat butt and some belly fats.
do you think this work out can help me?
thanks!
Hi Karen – BBL is not just for lessening the size of bigger butts, it’s also designed to help with every other possible butt problem…including one that is too square or too flat. So yes, it can definitely help you by adding shape to your bottom. You would just need to follow the Lift & Shape schedule, which does not as much cardio as some of the other plans do, but has more of the butt sculpting moves that will get you a higher, more well-rounded tush. Just make sure to use the heaviest ankle weights you possibly can (5lb adjustables work best) and the heaviest dumbbells you can, because the added weight is what is really going to shape you up…literally :) Good luck!
Hi Bethany, firstly congratulations on your results, they’re amazing and very inspiring!! I am hoping to get into shape in the new year and am excited to start an exercise programme. I’m 17 years old, 5ft5 and currently weigh about 156lbs and wish to lose about 25lbs to start off with. I have T25, Insanity and BBL. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to do T25 at the same time as BBL in order to see some results, I am pretty confident that I can stick with it but am not sure whether that is the way to go around trying to lose the weight? I just really want to be able to maximise the results I get in these 60 days. Thank you :)
Hi Mary – thank you for your compliments :) Unfortunately, Beachbody workouts are not meant to be performed by anyone under the age of 18. You would really need to talk to your doctor about what they feel is best for you, since when you’re young, there are safer ways to lose weight than with intense exercise programs and restricted calorie diets. Your body can still be growing at your age. I know when I was your age, I was 5’6 1/2″, but now, I’m 5’8″. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help right now. Good luck!
hi bethany
its been a long time since i last wrote to you here
im very happy with my results and im continuing to do the BBL classic sec
however i was womdering if it affects the outcome if i were to change the order of the workouts in one day
say today i have cardio axe and high and tight
what if i started with high and tight then did cardio axe would that change anything]
thanks
will this workout give me a hour glass shape body?
Hi Susan, I can’t answer that one for you. Body shape unfortunately depends a lot upon genetics. What it will do is tone and shape you up. -Bethany
Bethany,
I am so inspired by you!! Thank you for sharing your success story. I actually found your video on youtube while searching for BBL ‘before and afters’. I read your info and ended up here. I am starting BBL tomorrow. I have a Beachbody coach (who was actually a high school friend), and an amazing support group on facebook to do the challenge with. Some are doing insanity, hip hop abs, etc. I am so stoked!! Your story only made me more excited and determined.
I am 5’2″, 123 lbs. I worked over the last year and a half and was able to lose 40 lbs. However, as exciting and prideful as it was, it was primarily by cutting calories. I did do some treadmill walking, but as you know, that low impact isn’t much good. I am doing this mainly for toning. Sooo my question for you is this…my coach and a couple other challengers are swearing by Shakeology. I am intimidated by the price tag! :-/ If I am already at a weight I am fairly comfortable with (I put 110 lbs as my goal on beachbody), would I really benefit from the investment while doing BBL? I understand the foods I should and shouldn’t eat from my previous weight loss journey. My fat/carb/protein ratio may not be exactly as it should be, but maintaining calories is not a problem for me. What do you think? Any other words of advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I am excited, as I said, but I’m scared to death of the pain I know I am going to be in on Tuesday! Lol! Did you start just as the schedule said? …or did you take it easy the first couple days/workouts? Also, I intend to buy the ankle weights, but can I do the 60 days without the bands? Thank you in advance and, again, congratulations on your transformation and hard work. You look phenomenal!!
Hi Erin, thank you for the kind words!
If the price of Shakeolgy is an issue, you definitely do not need it to get an amazing transformation! For a lot of people Shakeolgy is great because it is convenient. As long as you concentrate on your diet and eat nutritious foods you’ll be fine.
I started very slowly to begin with, lots of walking in place to get my heart rate down and the first couple of sculpt workouts I went easy on the weights.
Yes, I think you should also invest in bands along with the ankle weights, high & tight may seem like torture as the first couple of times, but you’ll soon need the bands and ankle weights to push yourself in the workouts. Good Luck – Bethany
hey love, i dont think u will remember me but i commented last year and i told u im doing bbl and all, but i didnt get results like urs, but probably coz i skipped alot of workouts becoz by the second month i had finals and i didnt have time to do anything else except study. anyway, my problem area is my legs, and not alot of programs focus on that, and i hate them to the point where i cry alot. and im currently doing turbofire, so i thought why not add bumbum and high & tight, since they’re the most effective workouts on the program, so i’ll follow the bbl calendar but only with bumbumm and high nd tight, with turbo. so what do you think, is it a good idea? becoz i rlly wanna fix my legs, my hips are big and the saddlebags ekk dont get me started. thank you.
Hi Jumm – I do remember you, how are you? I think adding Bum Bum and High & Tight to your Turbo Fire is a great idea if you have enough time to do it all. Another great Beachbody workout that tones up your legs quickly is Focus T25. It’s only a short 25 minutes a day, but it really gets your legs looking slim and muscular. You also really need to watch your diet and stick to the program to see the results you want.
Unfortunately, you can’t half commit to the program to get the results you’re looking for. Just make sure you have enough time right now to really decide to commit, so you can succeed and get the body you’ve always wanted. If finals are coming up soon, now may not be the best time. And don’t let your body be the cause of your tears. Stop thinking about much you hate your body, and instead, focus on how great your legs will look when you’re finished – it’s a great tool for motivation. You can do it, Jumm – there is no doubt in my mind. Good luck!
So i ordered this plan and when doing the first few days I felt like I had not coordination and was really awkward doing the videos. Is this normal? I am feeling like I have got to look like a total idiot because I know I am not getting all moves and I sure cant keep up, I wonder if its doing any good.
Hi Nichole, you’ll get the moves down in no time. The first few times through the videos can be tricky, but you’ll start to see how the moves work together and you’ll get the coordination down, it can just take some time. -Bethany
In Every brazilian buttlift result I see no lift just an overly shrunken tush, and somtimes even worse a flat tush. Your results are nice if you were going for a skinny straight figure. I liked your before pictures more than after, and this the case for most results I see. all you did is burn away the precious little muscle you had. Theres no definition now these workouts are the same as continous cardio. Ever wonder why long distance runners never have the nicest bodies? Personally, the best advice for anyone reading this if you are loosing more than 3-4 pounds a week something is wrong with this picture (may not have been your case). But does anyone ever wonder why most biggest loser contestants look smaller, yet have no definiton? Burned muscle. Muscle is our friend. Some heavy squats, deadlifts, lunges, and a couple upper body movements is all you need to shape your booty and entire body. To lose fat eat right, walk up stairs, hills is suffice. Now to gain some muscle you will have to gain a little wait. If you lifted heavy you would of built muscle, and raised you metabolism. Most girls who do this end up like sticks and toneless. Some girls like yourself had a nice tush just needed some heavy wait to firm it up, and the other thigs I mentioned. If you are happy with this look great though. I’m sorry for running my mouth. If this is what you wanted than I am senerely happy for you. I just felt your body needed minor tweaks. Embrace your curves dont get rid of them just make sure they’re in the right places. Your body had a lot of potential and will continue to have potential. Just have to have the right routines.
Thanks for the comment. It is kind of hard to tell from the photos, but trust me I’m not that skinny! And, yes I agree losing 3-4 pounds a week is too much, a better goal would be 1-2 for long term weight loss. -Bethany
Hi Bethany –
I’m really enjoying your site. It’s nice to find realistic, down to earth information about BBL. I’ve been interested in it for a while and my order just arrived today! Little glitch though – apparently I ordered the Master series! I’m thinking I should probably reorder the initial BBL program and complete that before I try anything that contains the word “Master” in the title. Thoughts?
Thanks!
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer, yeah you will likely want to order the BBL basic workout package. The masters series is for people who have graduated from the BBL workout. The masters series does come with a BBL/Masters hybrid schedule you could follow, but that would still require the beginner workouts. -Bethany
Hey, Bethany ! I am so happy for you.. I found your video on youtube and it really inspired me alot because I always looked for a solution and never really found one …I have a pear shaped body and also felt the exact the same way you felt with that extra weight on the hipps. I want to start with the Brazil Butt Lift program now and will try my hardest to get good results. I was wondering where to get the CDS and if they ship it to any country?
Hi Sara – the best way to buy BBL is through this link to Team Beachbody. This is the only place where you get the free bonus DVD workout with your purchase of the program. I do believe they ship the workouts internationally, but you may have to call for that, but you can still use the above link to get you to their website. Hope that helps :)
hello!
My body is like ur before photos, (pear shape) my question is I dont wanna lose my butt. what calendar is better?
(im only want to lose like 5-7 pounds)
Hi, Kathe, I would suggest the classic schedule.-Bethany
Hi Bethany from cold and rain filled London UK!
Firstly WOW! you look amazing :) I first came across BBL whilst in Orlando in April on vacation on a cable infomercial channel and it held my interest straight away, it looks fun which is very important for me to sitck at it! any way cutting a long story short, on the same vacation my BF of 3 years proposed at Disneyworld and i am now due to get married at the Hark Rock Orlando on Oct 29th 2013, i am currently around 57 pounds overweight which is awful and i have embarked on a clean programme at 1500 calories per day, i am sure i can reach my goal weight by my wedding, but i really would love a tight toned body to boot, i cant remember the last time i had the confidence to wear shorts and a bikini – cue my other problem we have 4 beautiful daughters all of which have been through C.Section deliveries so my stomach is shot, no tone, loose skin just eww! will BBL be able to help with this? i too tried the gym like another poster on here, and got no results that i could really notice :( – I have brought a beautiful mermaid gown 3 sizes smaller for my big day and really need to help to be able to wear it and fell good about my body ie smooth hips, tight butt sleek lines, the other question i have is shall i wait to say 100 days before the wedding to start? sorry for this overload but it is an insperation to read your blog, and to have at last found a exercise programme that i’m excited about! thank you so much! x
Hi Laura, congratulations on your decision to get fit for your big day! As far as dropping dress sizes – it is very possible to lose all your weight by next year (you wrote 2013, but I am guessing you meant 2014 with the 100 day comment). Realistically, I believe you could lose 20lbs safely and effectively on BBL in 60 days. I would definitely follow the Classic Schedule and really watch your diet – only whole foods with not a ton of whole grain carbs – try to aim getting your carbs from mostly veges, then fresh fruits, and then whole grains. Stick to lean proteins like turkey, chicken, and fish – you could also try adding in a protein shake to make sure you’re getting enough protein. Eating like this will cut the fat fast. You could also do a slightly higher protein diet in ratios of 40% protein to 30% carbs to 30% healthy fats. If it’s easier for you and you want to see how it is, you could also just follow the BBL diet.
I would not wait to do the workout until 100 days before your wedding day – start now and get yourself into the habit, and you could have a lean, sexy figure you’ve always wanted by your wedding day. Don’t wait and get yourself even more anxious for your special day – don’t forget, you’ll probably need to have your dress taken in more so if you start now :) Push yourself only as hard as you are able to safely exercise – overdoing it will not help you reach your goals any faster. And definitely follow the 6-day Supermodel Slimdown, because you could lose over 5lbs in that short amount of time, which would put well on your way to weight loss success. Always make sure you’re eating enough to satisfy your body’s energy levels at your current weight to maximize fat loss. I would follow BBL’s calorie recommendations.
After one round of BBL, you could either do the program again or opt for something that is less time consuming like Focus T25 (25 minutes a day). I do think BBL will help with the extra skin on your belly – slow and steady weight loss is the key, while simultaneously building up muscle underneath. BBL has the best ab workout, so it’s a great place to start. And BBL will tighten, lift, and tone your booty nicely, so you feel more confident than ever in a bikini and shorts :) Good luck! If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to ask.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It’s REALLY great to find one (results well documented) out there that isn’t doctored up! I’ve read so many of the comments and the overall consensus is, #1 You look amazing & awesome job to you! #2 your story is very inspiring and so much appreciated (all the documentation)!
I’ve already read your story many times now. I just started DAY 1 (received the DVDs in the mail today)! Looking forward to making some changes to my overall eating/diet and BODY. 1st day down, ready to commit to the days to come.
I just signed up for the free Team Beachbody today and clicked your link.
Just a shout out to say, thank you for sharing & for the REAL inspiration!
Hi Kara, thank you for the kind words. I just sent you a welcome email to your Beachbody account. -Bethany
hi bethany
i noticed ur answer to the girl above about yoga and how it is considered as overdoing the prog.
i do a 10 min yoga every day after BBL is that bad ? with a full 50 min yoga on my rest days
I’m 145 lbs, 5’7″, and I have basically the same measurements as you! I was wondering what you thought would be a healthy weight for me (I’m thinking 120-124?) and how much weight do you think I’d lose in 8 weeks of bbl if I followed the combination program and did a 30 minute yoga video every day and walked for 45 minutes on Sundays? Oh and ate 1200-1400 a day of clean protein and complex carbs? And I’ve read dairy is bad when dieting.. Do you think Greek yogurt is okay? I would really like to reach at least 125 by the last week of October.. My 20th bday! Oh and also – I’m completely inactive and out of shape right now.. If I can’t complete the full video or can’t do all of the reps and have to take breaks – will that hinder my results? It kind of scares me away from attempting the program..
Hi Amber – your healthy weight is most often the lowest weight you were able to maintain for at least one year after you turned 18 years old. If you were 120-124 lbs, then that would be a healthy weight for you. That being said, 120-124 is very thin for your height unless you are small framed. After not being able to exercise because of a stomach virus just recently, I went down to 120 lbs, and I looked icky – being fit is way more attractive than being just thin. Muscle weighs more than fat, so even if you get supermodel thin, you will have muscle, so you may weight 125-130 lbs and look fabulous.
After eight weeks of following BBL religiously, I would guesstimate you could lose at most 15-20 lbs safely and effectively. I would not do yoga every day in addition to the BBL workouts, because you will be overdoing it, which is counterproductive. I do think walking on your rest day is a great idea.
For diet, I would try to follow the supermodel slimdown at least once and make sure you’re eating your 1400 calories per day. Starving your body is a big no-no when trying to lose weight, because you can force your body into starvation mode where all your hard work will just lead to fat gain because your body begins to store fat for survival instead of burning it, which is what you want.
As for dairy, I ate what the BBL diet said I could, which included low-fat cheese and yes, Greek yogurt…yummmy! Opt for the non-fat plain Greek yogurt and mix frozen or fresh fruits into it for a healthy snack. Do not buy the flavors that come with fruit – although delicious, they are loaded with naturally occurring and added sugar. Keep to eating whole foods, and make sure your ratios are somewhere close to 35% protein, 40% carbs, and 25% healthy fat. Try to get your carb sources from fruits and veges with only some coming from whole grains each day to really torch the fat.
And don’t be worried about being able to finish the workouts in the beginning. I couldn’t even finish Cardio Axe without having to walk it out every now and then. Just be sure you are standing and active the entire length of the videos. With time, you will get stronger and feel your endurance building as you are able to finish the workouts at a higher intensity level than before. It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen. And it will not hinder your results – just do the best you can and commit to the program. If you’re 100% committed, you can’t lose anything but the extra weight :) Good luck! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Hey u look lovely still but your shape was great. just needed a little toning up and u would have been fine (: I was your size at first (bigger ) then wanted to tone up only but lost weight with it : ( now im eating more to see if i can get back a bit bigger.
Awesome! Just be sure to eat more healthy foods and not just junk food.
Hi Bethany, I’m on my 3rd week of BBL starting today and im doing the Pear Solution; anyways I’m on my 3rd week like I said but I don’t see a difference, I just gained a kilo since I started and I don’t know how and i have recently begin logging in my calorie intake on to the app Lose it! and my butt did get lifted but that’s it, I’m getting worried that I might be doing something wrong.. Love your blog too xox
Sounds like you have been replacing fat with muscle. Though you may have lost fat weight, the scale is not moving down because you have replaced it with muscle. This is great because muscle is denser than fat and will help you burn more calories overall. I would suggest taking measurements and see if you are losing inches. Sometimes a tape measure can be a better way of tracking results than a bathroom scale. -Bethany
hi again sorry for spamming you with all of this but just letting you know im back on the classic BBL sec after serious self talk and thinking
Hi Farah,
First I am glad to hear you had such excellent results with BBL and I agree with your decision to go back to the classic BBL schedule.
The BBL Masters series is something that I have been wanting to write about, but have not had the time I will be reviewing it shortly however. The problem with the Masters series it is meant more maintaining the results that you get from BBL not necessarily for continueing to get more results, if that makes sense. The BBL Masters series workouts do however have there place and are good workouts to mix in with the classic BBL workouts. YOu should be able to return the Masters series if it was purchased through Beachbody without a problem for a full refund btw, but I would keep the program as it is something you may want to use when you look to maintain results instead of gain. Hope that helps, Bethany
hi bethany thanks for answering me and im glad that you second my decision
but i have an huge amazing update about my BBL results so i measured before starting the bbl again which would be my third month
and my thighs i measured them in three places the upper wider part, the middle part and, above the knee
now the upper part used to be in the 25-26” now im at 24”
the middle part o used to be at 23” now im at 20-21”
above the knees i never measure before m=but now im at 15-15.5”
my calves were 15/5”-16” now im at 15” both
so thats so serious inches lost in my thighs im so happy
——————————————————————————————
for the master series i have noticed
/seen and felt an almost instant change ,lift and tone in my thighs shortly after i did the ipanema booty just once!!
since u said it’d be good to mix the master and bbl together
would u recommend including ipanema booty once a week with sculpt ?
as i see in the master calendar it is only done once or twice a week.
i also noticed its been added in the hybrid calendar once a week ( not in the first week then twice in the second week then once in the third and once in the fourth ) alone or combined with tummy tuck.
or will adding it once a week to the classic bbl offset the fact that this prog. promises no bulk at all and if i do so it will make my quads and thighs in general overworked thus leading to big thighs ?
Hi Farah, I think you would be safe adding in Ipanema booty in without any problems. I’m also glad to hear the Master Series has worked out for you. Bethany
hi bethany
its the BBL classic prog that actually gave me those results
so if i were to add ipanema booty what the best way to know if it would bulk me up should i measure after 2 weeks=2 times of ipanema ?
Hi Farah, yes I would measure after two weeks, you could measure after one week also.
part of me doesnt want to judge it right away since there is the tougher variation where you replace the last two weeks with other 2 dvds that are more BBL inspired so i really have no idea what to do probably i’ll keep going for the sake of getting to the last two weeks
but it really like has no planks no targeted abs workout like tummy tuck so far though the last two weeks variations do have that i dont how they will show me results in two weeks only ?!
what would you do ?
hi again you must be on vacation bethany and cant reply me
today is a sunday which is the start of the week for me idk what to do my gut tells me to just rip off the master calendar and hang the BBL classic programe
im really disappointed since i spent technically my brother spent a 100 kwd on the master elite package = 300 usd and it all like wasnt worth it or so it seems
hi bethany
im very happy to tell you that i finished my 60 day BBL program and already finished my first week of BBL master series my final results are that im at 62kg ( i kind of went up to 65 right before starting so …) and lost almost almost an inch off my waist ( which i wasn’t planning to ) and most importantly i lost an entire inch off my hips that may not seem much but for me is a dreaaaam!!! like my right hip was always wider than the left like it had this pointy edge on the side thats now smoothly rounded and i actually wore a body hugging jumpsuit at a gathering a few weeks ago like YEAAAAAAAAH i love my body where it is after finishing BBL but wouldn’t mind more tone and tightening than what i’ve got
surprisingly i dont find the exercises in the master series challenging at all to my body i actually feel a bit of the tone that i gained from BBL going away a bit, im concerned
i couldn’t find a review of yours on it ? did u try it ? do u recommend i go back to BBL
im planning to finish the master then do the hybrid BBL/Master and then if im really not as good as i was with BBL i’ll just go back to it
but im afraid if i wait all this time i’ll end up loosing the body i gained with BBL the first time !!
what do u think
Hi Bethany,
I’ve seen many commercials about BBL and always wondered if it actually works. So I did my research and stumbled on your review & results. First off, you look amazing! And you definitely inspired me to buy the DVD and try it out. The reason I decided to try BBL was your results. You weren’t over weight before, you just needed toning (well, from what I think!). That’s what I need! I am 5’0″ and started BBL last Monday 7/29/13 at 117lbs. Also, Monday I started a nutrition by Tone It Up. Yesterday I did my weigh in and took measurements… I’ve lost 2lbs., 3/4 inch on my waist, 3/4 inch on my hips, 1/2 inch on my thighs!!! I just want to say a HUGE thanks for posting this review/results.You really inspired me to start BBL and I am SO happy I did! Thanks again :)
Hi Angelita,
Awesome to hear you are doing so well with BBL…Keep it up!
And thank you for the kind words. -Bethany
Hi Bethany,
Your results are amazing, congrats!, but I’m feeling a little discouraged because I just finished my 7th week of BBL and I haven’t dropped a single pound. I’m 5 ‘6 and I started at 160 and I’m still there. I feel my body becoming toned and I have lost my saddlebags, but my weight concerns me because I know my BMI is not right. I am eating right, tons of fruit and veggies, I don’t know what is happening, I want to cry :'( , is it really gonna happen? You think the scale will move at some point?, thank you for the inspiration!
Hi April – I’m glad you took the time to write. While I’m happy to hear you are noticing results, I am a little concerned you haven’t lost any weight. Have you lost inches? Alos, are you following the combination schedule, because this one will get you the most fat loss. And while you will replace fat with heavier weight muscle, you should’ve seen the scale move slightly by now. Usually this means your diet may need some tweaking calorie-wise and/or macronutrient-wise.
Are you following BBL’s recommended calories? If so, you should be eating around 1600. That being said, if you have been eating 1600 and haven’t lost any weight, try knocking down your calories to 1400 each day to see where you end up after a week. Also, be sure to eat all whole foods and watch your ratios of lean protein to complex carbs to healthy fats. I would shoot for 30-35% protein to 40% carbs to 25-30% healthy fat. Unfortuntately when you eat too many fruits and veges, you could be eating too many carbs – track your eating on a site like myfitnesspal.com – just don’t pay attention to their suggested calories. I really do think the scale will move – it just may take a little experimenting on your part. Good luck! And if you have any questions, please ask.
Hello! I am AMAZED! Your transformation is awesome! Congratulation! Yo look perfect.
I bought the Brazilian Butt Lift AND the Hip Hop Abs DVDs. But now I don’t know which one should I do first!
Or shall I combine them? I have no idea how to start and work for a saddlebag free/ sexy six pack body…
I also bought vanilla 0 calorie protein. But if Im trying to loose weight, should I drink the protein shakes?? Im so confused!!!! Im sorry for all the dumb questions…Could you please give me your thoughts or help me some way?
Thanks a lot! And congrats on the amazing body.
Hi Dana – thanks so much for your kind words, and congrats on your decision to try two of Beachbody’s most fun workouts. To begin, I would start with the BBL combination schedule 60 days – it combines the right amount of cardio with the right amount of body toning moves to get you the sexy saddlebag-free body you want. While you could add an HHA workout each week on your rest day, or any other day when you’re feeling extra ambitious – I would keep it to a minimum, because over exercising is almost as bad as not exercising. It can actually hurt your results. Truth is, BBL’s combination schedule is tough enough as is if you’re following the plan exactly.
As for protein shakes, they’re perfect for when you’re losing weight. It helps you get in the protein you need to build lean muscle, which can be really tough. Try to stick with a 30-35% protein, 40% carbs, 25-30% healthy fat diet to optimize fat loss and eat lots of whole foods and lean proteins. I hope this helps, but if you do have any questions along the way, please feel free to ask. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your help!!!! I just started yesterday. And Im doing the 6 day slim down plan. Im feeling just a little bit dizzy, but Im happy and my body is sore. :) SO EXCITED!
Thanks for all your help, I was super lost!
Dana.
PS. ohh! I just forgot to ask… how will over exercising hurt my results? Ive never heard this before, and sound really interesting…I thought all exercising was good, an the more you did, the better you will look. ha, ha!
Hi Dana,
Exercising too much is called overtraining, it is pretty hard to do, but it does happen. When your body enters a state of overtraining it basically does not heal, meaning your body will not adapt or get physically stronger. Overtraining will cause your results to suffer. As long as your diet is proper you really do not have to worry about overtraining.
Hi bethany
Im so very happy and proud to tell you that im on my 5th week of BBL and i see amazing results so far my behind is high and tight indeed, my hips are changing, slowly BUT they are changing which encourages me even more
Id like to tell u that in also following the 1200 (1242) cal a day well
I alao ordered the BBL master series elite package and im starting it as soon as i finish my BBL programme
This all wouldnt have happened if it wasnt for u
Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
Hey B, it’s me again and I’m following my calendar day by day. Am I doing to much if i do it twice a day? I don’t want to lose my butt :) just wanna lift lift lift!
Hi Maria, doing it twice a day could potentially hinder results – that really is too much in one day. I would just stick with the schedule to get your butt smaller and tighter, as well as using the heaviest ankle and regular weights possible :) Good luck!
Hi there! I’ve been going to the gym since October and seen no results whatsoever. When I came across these beach body workouts, it seem too good to be true. Once I found your blog, I’m totally convinced! I’ve seriously never ever worn shorts or dresses in my life because my thighs are really chunky, to make it worst im sort!
First of all, I’m 14, 115pounds and 5ft. if it helps I consume no more than 1500 calories a day.Am I too young? Do you think it’ll be safe for me to use these programs? Which ones do you recommend?
Sorry this is not related but after every work out are you supposed to be really tired and sweating? On day 1 when I start a new routine I’m sweating a pool, huffing, puffing and feel like dying. But the following days i don’t huff and puff as much nor sweat too much. Some days I wont even sweat at all. Am I just not working hard enough?
Thank you so much [:
Hi Alexia, I’m glad you’re enthused about Beachbody products, but really sorry to tell you that you are a little too young to follow the programs right now. They are all much too intense and too calorie restricting for someone who is still growing. If you want to begin a new exercise program, talk with your doctor/pediatrician to find out the best, and safest, ways for someone of your age to lose weight. You’re young, so don’t worry too much about the little things like not looking like a supermodel in a dress or shorts (none of us do!) – the most important thing is to enjoy yourself :)
Okay thank you so much! Its just so hard loving myself, especially with the media. My friends are all beautiful, tan slim Dx
Hi Bethanny- I was wondering if you know if beach body replaces a lost DVD? I went to do my workout today and my high and tight video is GONE. I cannot find it anywhere and my kids swear they have no idea where it is :(. I am beyond upset because I’m trying to get in shape before I go to the beach and the high and tight video is SO important. :(.
I ordered it from amazon over a year ago so I have a feeling I’m out of luck and I’m going to have to buy the entire system all over again since high and tight and sculpt are so important.
Hi Kate, since you purchased from Amazon, I am not sure you will be able to get a replacement. If your order was full filled by Amazon but sold through Beachbody you may be able to get a replacement. Sorry I could not be of more help. Hopefully the DVD shows up somewhere.
Hiii Bethany,
How r u ?!
I noticed something with my boddybuddy app, as u told u it calculated a 1242 a day for me but as i add my exercise it adds up more so like i get 1500 is that right, am i not supposed to add the exercise and go on a 1200 regardless of how much i burn ?!
Hi Farah, to continue losing weight, just eat 1242 calories. A lot of online calorie calculators will add in extra calories for working out. Just stick with BBL’s 1200 (1242) recommendation – you will reach your weight loss goals faster that way.
hi bethany
thank you i understand now and from today i started not entering my workout into the app and just going on 1242 a day
one more Q i decided id like to do more yoga will adding yoga everyday affect the results of BBL only an 11 min routine
this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgZ2CC7nfws
keeping the original 50 min routine on off days
what do u think ?
Hi Farah, doing an 11-minute yoga session each day would be fine while keeping the lengthier one for your off days. I personally love stretching and doing yoga, so there is nothing wrong with it – if anything, it will just help lengthen your muscles more, while keeping you more flexible. I hope this helps, and you’re enjoying the program. Keep up the good work!
Did you happen to measure your thighs during any time? And if so, how many inches did you lose?
Hi Jodi – I did measure my thighs, and I lost 4″ off each thigh by day 60. Hope that helps :)
Wow! That’s awesome! I hope I have similar results! I just really need to focus on my eating…that’s my downfall. What’s a typical day’s menu for you?
Hi Jodi – a typical day’s menu consisted of Tropical Strawberry Shakeology with one cup of Wyman’s frozen triple berry blend, blended until smooth for breakfast, two cups of salad with veges, 4 oz. grilled chicken, and natural salad dressing (one serving!) for lunch, and a healthy dinner of 4 oz of grilled salmon/chicken/turkey with roasted sweet potatoes or red potatoes for dinner, and at least one cup of fresh steamed or grilled veges with olive oil and seasoning. I also had two snacks each day – usually a handful of nuts or raw veges or fruit with a tablespoon of natural peanut butter. For dessert, I often had frozen blueberries in non-fat plain yogurt or just a cup of fresh berries. The most important thing to do is eat foods you can tolerate and enjoy – otherwise, you will not be able to maintain it for the full 60 days. Also, don’t deprive yourself of anything – if you really want a piece of chocolate, have it. Just don’t overdo it. I did try to add in “normal” foods like healthy chicken fingers or healthy pizza once in a while to keep things realistic – my thoughts are as long as you’re getting in your healthy ratios of protein to carbs to fats and eating at least seven servings of fresh fruits and veges, you are good to go. Hope this helps!
it looks good now***
i forgot to mention how much calories i burn in each workout i have apolar watch with a heart strap so i guess its accurate
bumbum 330 / cardioaxe 250 / sculpt 100 actually (108) / high and tight 230 ( actually 233) / tummy tuck 100 ( actually 108 ) i just wanted u to get a general idea to make it easier
i wonder when did ur lower body wiggle seem to disappear completely? and as in for my butt im really worried without the ankle weights its already higher and perkier and i dont want it any bigger or higher than that its looks good no ( top of the butt cheek wise ) but the saddle bags are going , slowly , but GOING AWAY so what do u think?
hi bethany , im on my second week of BBL
i just read ur answer just now where u talked about the ankle weights
i actually have lost less than half an inch around my hips i know its not much but its better than nothing
in the mirror i can see my thighs lifting less sagging and very much toned all over but not wiggle free just yet
i use the bands as u suggested for the hight and tight BUT I DO NOT USE THE ANKLE WEIGHTS as i am afraid id get manly calves or bulky thighs ? but from ur answer i m interested to start using them as a beginner!
im actually going on a 1242 calories a day diet as calculated by my bodybuddy app do u think i should go strictly on 1200 ?! or +42 is okay ?! more over i eliminate whites from my diet i only eat brown or bran bread! also i go on grilled boiled bakes food never fried so NO SALT NO SUGAR NO FAT , to break it down to u to get a clearer idea i wake up i have a meta juice which is 4oz of pineapple juice 1Tbs apple cider vinger 1tsp honey 1/4 lime and then 3 dates and 1 sachet of 3in1 nescafe which has like 87 cal. , my main meal is lunch which is always high fiber brown or bran bread or buns if its a grilled meat or chicken burger and boiled or baked potato and always a salad with plain hummus to fill me up then by night if im hungry i eat a medium amount of special k cereal with low fat milk and always end my day with a green apple i manage to never go above the 1242 limit i have set for myself as the portions are controlled
but as a starting weights i was 63 i gained 3 kg since the first time i wrote to u then i weighed a couple of days before and i was at 64.8 to be fair i weighed at night after a mean so usually im a kilo less so im 63.8 even so im afraid its muscle weight what can i do about it?
i really want to lower my hips measurements like u did im sad im not loosing inches as fats as u did do u think its the ankle weights missing causing this? i mean they are only in one workout the high and tight and i already notice the top of my butt checks jumping a but higher so i dont want then any higher than this ?as i told u im terrified of a big butt so what do u suggest ? starting the ankle weights or not ?
sorry for such a long post
Hi Farah, you’ll be fine if you eat 42 calories over 1200 :) As for gaining weight since you started the workout, that could be due to a variety of factors…did you eat salty foods recently, is it that time of the month? I would recommend weighing yourself only once a week and only in the morning. I can gain four pounds in a day. The good news is that it is impossible for you to have gained 3kg of muscle in that short amount of time – it’s either water weight or fat…most likely water weight.
And ankle weights will not give you big calves or muscles. While some women do develop muscle tone more quickly than others, the muscle is never bulky like a man’s – we do not have the hormones for it. You’re only on your second week of BBL, so I would just continue to eat well (making sure to get at least 35% of your calories from protein) and follow the classic schedule, using weights as suggested. Don’t worry too much – you are NOT going to turn into the Hulk from the workouts – it was designed to keep supermodels lean and slim, so you have no worries. If in two more weeks, you’re still gaining, then you will need to start looking more closely at your diet.
I did lose my lower body jiggle slowly – it definitely did not disappear overnight. But you have to remember – you did not gain weight overnight, so it’s going to take some time to lose it. By the end, you will definitely have less jiggle. You are already saying you look better, so just keep going. Good luck!
thanks you so much for being so patient and reading thrugh all of this
actually i did get my period the day i wrote this so maybe it is , but how much kg can a woman gain through her period?!
as in for the salt no i actually as i mentioned go on a NO SALT NO FAT NO SUGAR diet ! so its mostly the period i guess
but as in for the muscle definition i really notice the jiggle going away specially in the tummy tuck move where we cross the knees and go side by side lifting the tail bone when i go up and down every time i do it i jiggle less so this is my measure LOL
and for the ankle weights i get what ur saying its just that i develop lower body muscles rather quickly cause i worked them out sooooo much in the past PLUS if i already notice the quads tightening but not going out ( with the bulky ugly way ) will using the ankle weights cause this? i dont want it to happen thats why im afraid specially the upper quads where they show clearly in jeans and sweats so what do u think?
im also afraid i might not be getting the results as good enough or as fast enough because im not using the ankle weights ?! btw what type on ankle weights do u recommend and what are the beginner weights?!
also the bands i have ones that are no closed idk how to explain but they are a long line and there is a clipper that attaches to them and shortens them idk how long are the BBL bands how can i get the same from the stores? is there a name for them the ones that are already in a specific length and resistance level ?
Hi Farah – I have literally put on almost 5kg of weight just from having my monthly visitor…it happens. As for eating salty foods – almost everything you eat has a measurable amount of sodium in it, even if you think there isn’t any. It can happen without you noticing.
As for ankle weights during High & Tight, they will not get you big quads. H&T works your butt and your hamstrings – it really doesn’t work the front of your thighs too much. For bands, you need to get Fitness Gear strength bands or another similar type – they are called strength bands that are flat and rubbery in a circular shape that fits right around your feet. What you’re describing doesn’t sound like the right thing. You can buy Fitness Gear brand on Amazon – I would suggest getting the multi-pack with varying resistance.
That’s wonderful you’re already jiggling less! Just think of where you’ll be in another six and a half weeks!
oh my than 3kg is fairly good
ur right i just meant i dont salt anything at all
so the ankle weights may cause a bigger butt?! thats one thing too i already notice the top of my butt lifted i dont want it to lift any higher cause then it would look bigger will using the ankle weights cause this ?
u havent mentioned ur answer to what kind of ankle weights do u suggest and what weights as a beginner ?
The ankle weights will shape and lift your butt while helping get rid of fat – that means an exchange of mass, which will not make it look bigger. As for what types, I used five pound adjustable weights like the ones here at amazon. You can use as little or as much weight as you like – up to five pounds on each leg. These are just like the ones I have. As for weights, start off with three pounds or five pounds, and then work your way up to eight or ten. You only have to use weights for Sculpt, but you’ll feel your body getting stronger. It’s a great feeling :)
OMG GREAT!!!
im soo starting with the ankle weights wish me luck xDDD ur awesome
Good luck – your’e doing great!
Hello there, thank you so much for this very thorough review and for sharing your honest, open journey of BBL.
I have a question to ask your advice on. I am currently on Day 1 of BBL Week 4, and I have yet to see any inches lost. I have not skipped one workout. I am a woman in my late 20s, never had children, 5’4″, 124 lbs, and eat pretty much all unprocessed food. I cook all of my meals. I have been logging my calorie intake for a week now, and I have been consuming close to 1500 calories a day on average. I try to eat less, but if I do, I get really hungry. Am I eating too many calories?
Just to give you an idea, a typical breakfast includes me eating 1/2 a cup of oatmeal with one banana, tbsp of flax seeds, and 2 handfuls of berries of some kind with 1 tbsp of honey. Lunch is usually a Boca burger with one slice of whole wheat bread, and a salad with kale, tomatoes, and green onions. I put lemon juice and salt on the salad as well, but not much. For dinner, I usually eat red lentils or a small wild-caught salmon fillet with orzo, buckwheat, or rice and more salad like the one I described for lunch. I try to eat small portions of the grains. I also might eat a banana, apple, or various other kinds of fruits throughout the day between meals. For dessert, I usually have a Vitatop muffin once a day. I drink approximately 60 ounces of water per day. Is there anything I’m doing wrong?
I have DEFINITELY gotten more toned from BBL. My stomach has gotten MUCH flatter, and my saddlebags have nearly disappeared. I am a pear shape, and I look pretty lean, but I wonder why I haven’t been able to lose any inches off my butt or waist. My measurements are 32-26-39 (at the widest point of my hips.) I would say I’m on the smaller side of medium in build. I don’t look overweight, but I would love to get my hips down to 37 or 36 inches.
I’d say I burn, on average, 200 calories per workout. So, for example, if I did Cardio Axe and Tummy Tuck, I’d burn approximately 400 calories. I wear a HRM every time I work out.
Could it be because I haven’t started using the ankle weights for the High & Tight?
Sorry for the long question. I’m just trying to see where I’m going wrong. Any input you have would be much appreciated!!! Thank you so much!
I forgot to mention that I was doing the Slim & Shape program, and I just switched to doing the Classic program a couple days ago. Perhaps that will make a difference?
Hi Dee – I am surprised you have not lost any inches, only because you’re seeing noticeable differences. I would switch to the classic schedule and see what happens. I would also suggest eating less if you can – BBL recommends 1200 calories per day for your weight. If you’re really having difficulty with eating less, try doing the Slimdown plan for a few days to help your body get used to eating less, and then move on to the 1200 calories. If after all that you’re still feeling famished, add 100 calories in per day. As for your diet, it sounds like you’re eating relatively clean and healthy, but are you keeping track of your ratios of carbs to proteins to healthy fats? It seems like you might be getting in a little too many carbs and not enough protein, which can hinder weight loss. Shoot for 35% protein, 35% carbs, and 30% healthy fat. While your ratios don’t have to be exact – for example 40/40/20 or 40/35/25 is not the end of the world – just be sure to get at least 65 grams of protein in each day. Also, get in at least 64 ounces of water.
And yes, ankle weights can really help smooth and tone your legs. I went up to five pounds on each leg by day 60, and it never added bulk…it just smoothed out my silhouette more. I hope this helps, but if you do have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Good luck!
Hi Bethany, thanks so much for the quick reply. I have adjusted my macros percentages to what you suggest on my food-logger and am excited to see if that does the trick.
I do have another question. You suggested that I eat 1200 calories per day, which makes perfect sense. However, I’m wondering if that would be too few calories after working out? Wouldn’t that make my total consumption seem something like 900 or 800 calories per day, if I were to burn 300-400 calories doing the BBL workout? Or, does that simply play into the reduction of calories which contributes to weight loss? I know that one needs a deficit to begin losing weight. Just wondering how that all works. Thanks in advance for your explanation!
Hello again, Dee! I know 1200 seems like too few calories, but just see where it gets you after one week. I know I felt like I was starving to death for several days before my stomach shrunk down a bit. It is the reduction in calories, in combination with the workouts, that will help you lose weight. 3500 calories is equal to one pound of fat, so you need that reduction in calories along with the workouts to help you lose fat. I hope that clears things up a little, but if not, just let me know.
How do you make up for it when you skip a day of exercise?
Hi Maria – quite honestly, you don’t need to make up for a skipped workout day. Just use it as your rest day and push your weekly workouts back a day. It’s definitely not the end of the world, and it happens. So my advice, don’t let it ruin your day :)
Hi B! (Can i call you that?)
Can i mix both insanity and BBL? Or is just too much?
Hi Mila, you can call me B. Doing both INSANITY & BBL at the same time would be serious overtraining and not good for your body. You do a hybrid schedule of the two programs which I have outlined in this post – https://thefitnessfocus.com/brazil-butt-lift/brazil-butt-lift-insanity-hybrid-workout-schedule
Hello Bethany, my mom picked up BBL a while back and had been doing some of the workouts sometimes and I recently decided I want to do it too. I am 19 and have always had a smaller waist and been bigger in the chest and hips/butt. People say it is an hourglass shape but I really hate it. I also have bad cellulite and have for a while..I hate it with a passion. I’ve never worn bikini bottoms or shorts out in public, and envy the girls my age doing so. I know some people have more trouble with it than others, I am just hoping that BBL will help. I am doing the 6 day supermodel slimdown right now and the workouts with it. I’ve read online before that cellulite doesn’t go away and it breaks my confidence and drive to keep trying to get fit. I feel like if I start eating really well (I already eat pretty good, but better) and do these workouts and others that I should be able to make it go away…do you think that it is possible?
Thanks, Belle
Hi Belle – cellulite is not impossible to get rid of, it’s just really hard to do it. The best way to get rid of cellulite is to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, eat only whole foods, really watch your ratios of protein to carbs to healthy fats, try to get the majority of your carbs from fruit and vegetable sources – saving whole grains for two meals or less – and EXERCISE!!! Stay away from refined carbs and sugar. Following BBL will help reduce cellulite as it will build up the muscle underneath and improve circulation. Losing excess body fat will help with reducing the amount of cellulite. Less fat = less cellulite. Cellulite is just fat trapped inside your layers of skin, so losing fat means you’ll lose cellulite too. Just remember, you are not alone – 95% of women have cellulite somewhere on their body…those are tough stats to beat. Even Jillian Michaels admits to having some and look at her figure! So, don’t worry about getting rid of it completely – you will just make yourself miserable. Instead, think about how much better you will look and feel after completing the program. You’re too young to be troubled by cellulite…enjoy your workouts and have fun! My guess is the cellulite will disappear on its own as you continue to live a healthy lifestyle. Then, you’ll be proud (and happy!), to flaunt your hourglass figure :) Good luck!
I have been doing the workout for almost six weeks. I only see changes that my butt is rounded but no lift. What am i doing wrong Bethany? I know i have been cheating on my diet but i workout . Please help.,.
Hi Lisa – Unfortunately, you just answered your own question. Cheating on your diet is the reason you are not getting the great results you want. Diet is so important when following any exercise program. If you’re not eating a wholesome, diet rich in everything that’s good for you, you are not going to get the body you’ve always wanted. My advice would be to go for the 90/10 rule if you’re finding it too hard to eat clean for 60 days…eat whole, healthy well-rounded foods 90% of the time, and junk food 10% of the time. You can also try having one cheat day a week – like Saturday or Sunday – whichever day you’re most likely to splurge. Hope this helps – good luck!
yes i actually did it was fast like it was challenging but BAM it was over just like that for me i actually managed to do some moves with the advanced positions right away but mostly stuck to the beginner so i can understand exactly what is the move about !
im so excited to see my results , i know i’ll cramp alot tomorrow LOL hopefully with the workout it will be better
i loved how yoga was kind of in bbl like the child’s pose and the mountain idk if that the right name to call it !
ur the reason i started this i really hope i get the same or even close results to urs
hiii Bethany just thought id let u know i actually started today and did the first day bumbum and tummy tuck
i felt great a bit of cramps but it” show for real tomorrow LOL
and yesterday the first day in the calendar thats marked rest day i actually did a 50 min weightless yoga with tara stiles which is from the dvd she has with another asian guy and so will all my rest days be “yoga days”
Hi Farah – that’s great! Hope you liked your first day :) It’s always good to do something on your rest day, so happy to hear you did yoga – that’s what I liked to do or take my dogs for a very long and leisurely walk. While it doesn’t burn a ton of calories, it does help keep you from being sedentary on your off days. Keep up the good work – I hope you can continue to work out without any issues!
hey bethany! if you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats now? do you have any new progress pictures? and how have you maintained? do you still do the brazilian program? thank you for being so helpful, you’re blog has helped me a ton! X
Hi Kenzie – stats now are waist 23.5″, and hips at 33.75″. Weight fluctuates between 120 and 125 lbs, depending on what program I happen to be doing as far as lifting heavier weights or more reps/less weight and whether or not I ate something too salty the night before. I like to try new workouts, so I just pick up a different Beachbody workout when it’s on sale. I am definitely not a gym person and do not like pummeling my body by running. I planned on taking images next weekend when I am away on a short vacation, so I’ll try to do an article when I get back home Sunday to show what I’ve maintained a year later. I still have yet to see the elusive six-pack, but I am happy where I am physically and mentally with a somewhat well-defined four-pack. I do tend to go back to BBL all the time, using the Master series if I don’t feel like doing one of the regular workouts – it’s definitely my favorite. Hope this helps :) Glad my blog has been helpful for you!
I’m 19, 5’8″, and 144ish and I have pretty much the same stats as you do! I’d really like to get back to my original weight of 118-120 (a year and a half ago.) Do you think if I eat 1400 (clean) cals a day while doing bbl, and do the slim down for weeks 1 and 5, and then either keep doing bbl or move on to insanity if I feel ready, I’d be able to lose the weight? Do you think I could lose the 26 lbs I’m 13 weeks?
And how did you stay so motivated to stick with the program like you did? You’re results are so motivational!
Hi Sarah, 26 lbs in 13 weeks is possible, but you are looking at 2 lbs per week, which is the maximum weight you should ever lose per week. It’s going to be tough, so you’re really going to have to watch your calories, your diet, and your exercise. I wouldn’t shoot for 118-120 lbs – I would aim more for 125 at your height. You will still be very thin, with a more realistic, maintainable weight loss goal. As for the slimdown, I wouldn’t do the plan more than once – it’s way too few calories to do more than once every six months, which is really tough on your body. 1400 calories of clean eating should be perfect to help get you down to where you want to be, and I think following the classic schedule of BBL can get you there. The way to stay motivated – take pictures each week from the day you start until the day you finish. Sometimes when you don’t feel or measure that differently for the week, seeing how your body has changed from the previous week really gives you all the motivation you need. You can also try joining my FB group if talking to others and posting/asking questions about anything fitness/health related will help keep you on the right track. I know that reading about others’ workouts for the day prevents me from ever skipping one. Good luck! And if you have any more questions, please ask.
hi, your results seem almost too good to be true! It’s hard to believe it :)
I’m in my second week now, and I can already see a difference in my legs, the problem is, since I started doing this, my stomach started bloating. This probably has nothing to do with the program, but it’s horrible to see. cause while my legs are looking better, my tummy starts looking worse. I count my calories, try to eat clean, but I’m close to giving up because I look like a pregnant woman and I don’t know why. And I feel that if I keep doing this, I’ll have nice looking legs but still have a really ugly belly :( it’s demotivating and I don’t really know what to do.
The workouts are going really well besides that, though I wish they wouldn’t have all skinny people in the videos, it makes me feel fat and ugly.
Anyway, your improvement seems almost surreal! I hope I can look like you one day, although I’m afraid that’ll never happen. Your before pictures look a lot like how i look right now, besides the fact that I look pregnant because of my bloated stomach.
Great site though, and really nice of you to help everyone out!
Hi Aricia – congrats on making it to week 2! I’m glad to hear you’re seeing a difference in your legs already. One thing I have to ask is whether or not your stomach is where you hold the most fat on your body – do you have more there than on your legs? I know when I did BBL, I first lost off my stomach, and the last place I lost weight was under my butt – the first place I would’ve liked to see the weight lost from. However, your stomach should not look worse over the two weeks, unless you are getting your monthly visitor soon – I know I blow up like a balloon, regardless of what I’m eating, for a week prior to mine – we’re talking at-least-four-months-pregnant-looking. Are you bloated, or is it fat? It’s hard to suggest help without knowing.
As for the skinny ladies in the video, instead of thinking about it negatively, start looking at them while working out and thinking how you can look like that one day – use it as motivation to work harder each video :) That’s what I did, but I must tell you, I too was angered by their perfect abs in the beginning, but then I saw my body change and thought, maybe that goal wasn’t impossible to reach – all I needed was some motivation, a better diet, and BBL. And you can change your body like I did – it just will take time. The weight didn’t come on overnight, so it isn’t going to disappear in two weeks. It will take some time, but you can do it! Even if it takes more than one round of BBL, who cares? Just be sure to keep a good attitude as much as possible – it will help you better reach your goals. Good luck!
Hi!
My stomach is indeed the place where I hold the most fat. And actually I did just get my monthly visit. I never really thought about it before, but that could very well be why it’s so bloated.
I’m still gonna have to work really hard to get it nice and flat, but I’m really motivated right now.
Just one more question, I wanted to make an account on the team beachbody website, but I’m from Europe so I can’t… Is there a European version of this website, or any other way to create an account?
Thanks for your reply anyway, it’s really nice of you to keep helping everyone out. You’ve become my main source of inspiration right now and my goal is to look like you!
Hi Aricia, glad I could help. Have you tried setting up a free account and it wouldn’t let you? I know there was a point where Team Beachbody was branching out to Canada, and I figured they would be branching out to Europe shortly after. I’m going to have to look into that. If you can’t sign up, you can always join my FB group for now – it’s in its beginning stages, but it should help you get the support you need when you need it. It’s for anyone who’s doing any sort of fitness program…most are doing BBL, but some are doing BBL/INSANITY hybrid. If you’re interested, just read this article: https://thefitnessfocus.com/brazil-butt-lift/join-my-facebook-group-the-fitness-focus. Hope to see you there!
YOU’RE RESULTS ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
I read that you did the 6 day slim down? How did you like it? What were your results from it? (:
Hi Cami, I did do the slimdown, and I liked it except for the part when I got cranky and felt really hungry. That only lasted for days 1.5-2, so it really wasn’t that bad. Afterwards, all I wanted was better-for-you foods…it really was amazing. I lost about 5lbs on it in one week, so it’s totally worth it. Good luck!
OMG u r the best tbh!
thank you i can now start this not afraid ur a very nice person like no one would take the time to answer all of our questions with such an open heart ur awesome just thought id let u know!
plus i actually am convinced with u said because u were like me before we come from the same background u r a pear , u understand what im afraid of like i dont buy these words when ppl with flat backs or no hips start to preach about then like no way
but i totally now believe what u said and im so starting soon and as soon as i start i;’ll be checking in here every week with my measurements and how im doing ” if u dont mind of course” because u r the only person i came across to actually be shaped like me and have great honest answers to all of my questions
thanks again i cant tell u how much u’ve helped me if it wasn’t for ur honest answers id got rid of those cds in a blink but thanks to u im soooo starting this i cant believe i’d ever loose inches off my hips its a dream
Hi Bethany! You’re results are a huge inspiration to me :) I bought BB about 6 months ago but have been putting it off because I was worried it was just very skeptical. I’m almost 18 and I’m 5’7″, 145 lbs, 29 inch waist, and 38 inch hips. My goal is to reach 125 by the end of this summer.
The only thing’s I’m really having trouble with are motivation and my diet. I just moved in with my dad and he’s a “carboholic” haha. He’s also only used to shopping for and feeding himself and my brother who have to eat more than twice the amount I do just to maintain! When he shops he gets bagels, white bread, white rice, cake, muffins, anything that could possibly have processed sugar and wheat. So I’m always tempted and I feel bad if I don’t eat it because I don’t want to seem ungrateful.
And a few weeks ago I attempted the first day of the Classic plan and I was shaking 5 minutes into the video and practically in tears I was so frustrated. I’m very out of shape and it just kind of killed my motivation :/
Hi Caroline – please don’t get frustrated. You are really close to what I was before beginning the program and in the same kind of shape physically – meaning I was a couch potato…literally – so I was probably even worse. You just started a new workout program – you are not a fitness model in the video, so you are not going to be able to do the moves like them. It’s okay to only get five minutes into the video before needing to take a rest. I did about that long of Bum Bum before my heart was beating out of my chest, and I needed to walk it out. And my legs were weakened by the moves too! Just take it one day at a time and keep going. You really will build up endurance as you go along. You have three months until the end of the summer, so if you start now, you’ll be finishing the workout by the end of July!
By the end of the summer, you definitely have potential to lose 20lbs – the only thing you’ll really need to do is watch what you eat, which means aiming for whole food options as much as possible. I do understand your concern about seeming ungrateful by not eating the stuff at your dad’s house…it’s definitely hard. Is your dad open to suggestions? Would he be willing to try whole wheat bread or bagels? If not, would he be willing to buy you healthier food like fresh fruits and veges? While you can still lose weight eating the white bread and sugar (in correct ratios with protein and healthy fats and by cutting back your calories some), you really won’t get the same results as if you’d eaten clean. Also, try to aim for eating 35% protein, 35% carbs, and 30% healthy fat regardless of what you’re eating. Just because he’s a carb addict doesn’t mean you can’t get your protein in to help you build strong, lean muscle mass. If you have any of your own money you can spend, opt for a protein shake to have as protein supplementation like optimum nutrition’s whey. Because you’re so young, I would suggest not going much below 1800 calories to start off with. I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions, please ask – good luck!
I
Kudos to you for how you replied to the Kenzie girl! That was kind of rude of her (in my opinion) and you handled it very gracefully and respectfully :-) You’re butt is not flat by the way haha it’s like my goal butt.
Thanks, Abby! I wish I did just have a flat butt before I began…then, I would’ve just needed to do the too flat solution with weights and not have needed to cut calories to get rid of any fat, which would’ve been easier than the combination schedule and cutting calories. As for my butt now, it curves where it should, and I am much happier at the beach and in shorts than I’ve ever been in my life :)
Hello Bethany! i started today the bbl..and im dissapointed:/ im doing the combination schedule..First i tried to do bum bum, i couldn’t do the whole set of each exercise and i stopped at the 10th minute of the bum bum because i was exhausted.. After that i started tummy tuck and at the 8th minute of the video i stopped because i couldn’t do any more exercises…:/ Did that happen to you too? :(
Hi Georgia, please don’t get discouraged or disappointed. When I first began the program, I couldn’t even make it through the warm-up of Cardio Axe without needing a breather. And Bum Bum, well let’s not even get into that too much. That workout took me over five weeks to finally be able to do at full speed. It is a super tough workout, so don’t base your assumption of BBL on that one. I still dread that workout, because it’s so tough. Congratulations on making it 10 minutes in before needing to take a break – you beat me :) And if you do need a break, feel free to take one. And if you need to walk it out or do less reps than they do, do what you can. It’s not a race. Eventually, you will build up your endurance. As for Tummy Tuck, that one is also bad – probably the most difficult ab workout I have ever done, and that’s including INSANITY and P90X. In fact, I did Tummy Tuck a few weeks ago for the first time in a couple months, and I had a sore abdomen for days. The BBL workouts are tough, so just take it one day at a time and do the best you can. That’s what I really liked about the program, you can tone it down to suit your current fitness level pretty easily. Good luck, and keep going – you can do it!
Hey again!! I’m glad that i have someone to encourage me about BBL cause i really need it!! :) Btw yesterday , after 8 hours of doing the BBL i went for quick walking for about 40 mins, and i dont know if that was a good idea after all…while i was doing my walking i was feeling very good, when i finished i was feeling kind of sleepy-weak and i had to sleep immediately. Maybe going for walking too was too much for my body, i dont know…You think that it’s a bad idea going for walking and doing BBL daily? Maybe going for walking too it will causes me exhaustion!Btw today when i woke up i had sore abs and back pain and i dont know if i can continue with the program or i have to wait some days till i get better to continue!! I ve read about shakeology that gives you power and etc but i im not able to buy it,is there anything i can drink to give me power?:/ some drink with fruits or veggies? And the last question, (i promise:p) .I know i have to do BBL everyday, but i have a problem, when i’m on my period i can’t do anything for about 5 days:/ Is that interruption a problem to my results?:( Thanks:)))))
Hi Georgia, I think 40 minutes of walking, in addition to the BBL, was too much for you. I would stop walking while doing BBL. Sore abs are normal after working out, but no type of pain is good – have you had back pain in the past? I know when you’re holding in your abs while doing the moves it can make your abs and back sore, but to feel any type of pain is abnormal. I would suggest waiting until your back feels better to start working out again. It is NEVER a good idea to exercise when you are in any sort of pain anywhere. If you can’t do Shakeology, there really isn’t a viable replacement – I would suggest eating lots of fruits and veges to give you the energy you need, in addition to a whole foods, healthy, balanced diet. And for not being able to do anything when you’re having your period, you may want to see your doctor about that to see if there is anything they can give you to help you feel better. To be totally wiped out from your monthly visitor is not unheard of, but it’s not considered normal, and you shouldn’t have to live like that. Needless to say, if you can’t work out when you have it, then don’t worry about. Just continue to watch what you eat and start up where you left off on the sixth day, and you’ll be fine. I hope this helps. Take care of yourself!
hi again
no what i mean with the cramps like i just stood up right now and tried to do that move were u lift ur leg on the side so the foot touches the opposite knee and i push the leg down which targets the butt
no after that i feel my butt it tight in the place where it is worked now as i go through with im really like really afraid of getting a bigger butt like getting a lump from all these moves
this is sincerely the only thing keeping me from starting this like right this second is the fear of getting a big butt , cuz in all my dvd workouts that ive done through the years i always avoid the butt parts and try do the squats and lunges while not so much engaging the butt because if i do it jumps literally otherwise remain untouched unworked it looks exactly like the pear shape drawing in the booklet
soo what do u think of course u felt ur butt getting really tight at first with the high tight when did it wear off ?
Hi Farah – you will not get a big butt from the workouts- especially if you follow the combination schedule. There are too many repeated movements and cardio. While it will tone up what you have, it will slender out your hips to give you a more proportionate shape. And to answer your last question – yes. Yes, I did feel my backside get very tight and very sore when I first began doing the High & Tight workout – that’s a tough workout :) Tightness just means you worked your muscles. If you’re feeling too tight, you can always do some of the stretches again, it does not mean you are making your butt bigger. I hope this helps. Good luck!
OMG ur so nice to actually read through all our comments and help out
my last question is im really afraid that id have a big butt because as i told u my butt cramps in the upper cheeks and it just shoots up and then when i continue working out it’ll go down thats talking about a normal not so butt focused workout so im terrified from tight and high and the use of the resistance band , how can i make sure my butt turns out like yours not BIG but normal ?
Hello again, and you’re welcome. I promise you will not get a big butt from High & Tight – if nothing else, the workout will slender you down from all the repeated movements. You will not get bigger if you follow the combination schedule :)
Regarding your pain – do you have cramps, or is it something with your sciatic nerve? Sometimes, you can get that piercing pain up or down your butt cheek (into your leg or back) from hitting the nerve the wrong way or the nerve just being aggravated. If that’s what you’re getting, I would take it easy with High & Tight at first to see how it feels and progressively up the intensity if you’re feeling pretty good with no issues.
If at any time during your workout you experience any sort of pain, stop and go back to a move you can do comfortably and without pain. If you’re cramping up, try drinking enough water and making sure you’re getting enough vitamins and minerals. Sometimes being short on certain nutrients can cause cramping. However, what you describe as cramping that shoots up sounds like when I’d hurt my sciatic nerve way back. Sometimes, you just need to rest it, so please be careful. And if the pain doesn’t improve after some R&R, you should check with your doctor to make sure you’re ready for intense exercise and nothing is wrong that first needs fixing. Good luck!
and more questiones please,. now when u started u did the programme and only the programme?
cuz im skeptical about it on its own because the way my week goes is 3 days treadmill and 3 days i do jullian hough’s dance workouts so idk how will i get the same results u got by just doing BBL and having no treadmill at all , id cry at the thought of it i feel like my treadmill workout is the base and its what pulls my whole life together!!
im pear shaped and my problem area really is my hips im at 42 inches that is at 132lb =60kg and 5foot3=162cm and i consider my self fit and ive lost all my extra weight 3 years ago but but those hips just WONT let go!
do u think it’ll work on me ?? idk how can i take more than one day off ( as the plan goes wehere u have rest days and stuff ) id freak out im a workoutaholic tbh
did u strictly follow the meal plans ? i for one watch i eat like NO SUGAR NO SALT NO FAT in my system at all , only grilled boiled and baked stuff so ???
plus in the sculpt workout i notice alot of weights are used IM TERRIFIED OF A BULKY UPPER BODY i do not want that for my self did u do it? and i understand u didnt bulk as i see so how did u do it ?
PLUS the high and tigh seems so targted on pushing the butt up and high im afraid that would give me a very big back side but that didnt happen with u so again how did u do it? u didnt push as hard or what? i have a very sensitive butt to any workout like if i do my squats wrong it;’ll shoot sky high out of cramping u get what i mean?
i know i know i kind of wrote u a book up there but i really am sick and tired of my existing routine idk what to do plus its summer break for me i like to transform my body now
Hello again! Yes, I only followed BBL’s combination schedule for 60 days to get the results I got – nothing else. And I was like you – VERY skeptical. I have been pear-shaped for as long as I can remember and thought I’d never be somewhat proportionate. Let’s just say I started at almost 40″ hips and ended at 34″. I am now down to 33.75″ hips almost a year after finishing, so if I can do it, so can you! You really have to watch what you’re putting into your body to get good results – this means eating whole foods, watching your calories, and drinking at least 64 ounces of water each day.
If you follow the combination schedule, you will get the best results for your shape. You will also only have one rest day each week. It’s not uncommon to want to do something on your off day – I used to take the dogs for a long walk, or do yoga or ballet.
I did not follow the diet strictly – I basically ate a healthy, balanced diet at 1400 calories each week. I did try some of the recipes, but that is not what I followed for the two months. And for weights, I did use them – the heaviest I could lift for the recommended reps. This is how you are going to build lean muscle – by using the heaviest weights you can handle. You will NOT ever get bulky doing the kind of weight lifting Leandro has you doing for as many reps as he has you doing. The program is designed to tone your muscles without bulking them up by doing lots of reps per set with cardio. Women cannot get bulky muscles like men without illegal substances or extra testosterone, so please don’t worry.
For High & Tight, I pushed really hard, because that is how your butt is going to lift, shape, and slender down. Use the heaviest ankle weights you can tolerate, because you will need the added resistance to keep challenging your body for the 60 days. If you don’t, you will not get as good of results It’s the weight lifting part of BBL that will help you get the sexy figure – not just the cardio.
Summer is a great time to start a new workout program, and with BBL’s beach scenes during the Brazilian-inspired workouts – you will keep wanting to push yourself to the limits to get yourself the body you’ve always wanted. If I can do it, you can too! Good luck – if you have any questions along the way, please let me know.
Hi bethany,
Before I purchased BBL i would go to the gym regularly, but now im not sure what to do first. Should i do BBL first or after doing cardio at the gym?
Hi Brittany, BBL has enough cardio in it – especially if you do the combination schedule – that you will not need to go to the gym for extra. Sometimes, you will be working out over an hour each day, so you definitely don’t want the extra cardio. Going to the gym will be overdoing it, which can hurt your results. Just stick with the combination schedule for 60 days, watch your diet, and I promise your body really will change. Good luck :)
Ok thank you!
heyyyy OMG ive been looking for a review like this since forever !
thanks alot
i already have the cds from a friend but i dont have the plan or anything
what if i watch my food on my own
will it still work ?
Hi Farah – honestly, as long as you’re careful about what you’re putting in your body, you don’t need the diet plan to get good results. You just need to cut your calories and stick with the program. Depending on what you weigh, I’d go with anywhere from 1200-1600 calories a day. I’d also recommend eating whole foods and cutting out processed foods for the 60 days – all the added salt and sugar can really hinder weight loss and hinder getting good results. Try for a diet that is 35% lean protein, 35% carbs, and 30% healthy fat. You can easily keep track of your calories and macronutrients for free online at myfitnesspal.com. You can use salt-free seasoning or salad dressings as marinades for chicken so you don’t get bored, but try to look for more natural options with no high fructose corn syrup. Opt for lots of colorful fruits and veges, because this help you feel healthy overall and help with any weight loss. Also, drink at least 64 ounces of water a day and if you’re having trouble hitting your protein goals, opt for a protein shake – but again, look for something without a lot of sugar. If you can afford it, I recommend Shakeology for breakfast or lunch (whichever meal you have the least time for). Although it has a hefty price tag, it’s worth it for the ease of living healthy. I hope this helps, but if you do have any other questions, please ask. Good luck!
Hi!
I have a quick question – yesterday, I was supposed to do the 50 minute sculpt, but just didn’t have the time. If you had to substitute a quicker work out, which one do you think is the best? I did Abs Rapido yesterday because I was very very crunched for time. I was thinking of just doing sculpt today and picking up where I left off, instead of skipping a day. It will push everything back, but do you think that is the best approach?
Thanks!
Hi Lia! I would just do the Sculpt the next day when you have time and push everything back a day. This way, you won’t skip a workout. As for a replacement Sculpt, there really is no workout that’s even close in overall toning. High & Tight really works your backside, but not your upper, mid, and lower body like Sculpt does. Bikini Body from the BBL Master Series is the only workout that comes even close. If you’re not interested in purchasing the Master Series and you can’t fit it in because of time, just do your next day’s workout, and do Sculpt a day when you’re not crunched on time. I hope this helps :)
You didn’t have a pear butt.. You had a wide flat butt lmao. It’s more toned now but there’s no ass left. I was thinking about doing this, but I don’t wanna loose my ass. Flat bootys are not cute, big toned ones are.
Hi Kenzie, you’re absolutely right, I didn’t have a pear butt, I was pear-shaped – meaning that my hips were almost a full six inches larger than my bust measurements – not the ideal figure for most. And unfortunately, my rear was far from flat, which is why BBL worked – it lifts, rounds, and tones. If you have a larger booty and don’t want to lose it entirely, I would suggest following a plan that doesn’t have as much cardio, but more of the butt-sculpting moves like the Lift & Shape plan. This will round and shape your backside nicely while making your body more proportionate. I hope this helps :)
Hi, Bethany:
I’m 21 years old, 65 inches and 116 lbs. When I was 14, I gained weight til 150 lbs more or less, and then, two years after, I started loosing it until now. My weight is ok, but I’ve always been curvaceous and my hips are a bit oversized. I’ve never been fitness (I’m a very inactive person) , so my tights are very flabby and despite I’ve lost a lot of weight, I have a lot of cellulite. I thought I had to tone up my legs because that flabby is because of my lack of exercise. I’ve always had a huge complex because of my butt, hips and tights and it’s becoming so unbearable for me that I buy big t-shirts to cover this zone of my body and I think I won’t wear a swimsuit any more.
One day, I came across the BBL program in Amazon, and I saw all the high rated reviews, so I got it and I started the pear-shaped program (the description fits me perfectly) The first day I could only do five minutes of bum bum routine. It was a total (but previsible) disaster. Now I’m on the third day of my second week. My butt is bigger and rounded (I lost a lot of butt with my weight lost) but my tights… are getting bigger!! I haven’t noticed any change in neither my cellulite nor my flabby legs. None.
I’m not following any diet. I just eat healthy. I started to have breakfast (I never had it before) and then I eat, have an afternoon snack and then a light dinner. I eat a lot of vegetables, natural tuna, grilled chicken, salads… I’m trying to eat as few fat as possible. I’ve also stopped drinking carbonated drinks, for example, and, of course, I don’t eat sweets. I’m also using an anti-cellulite cream. People say it works very well, but despite I’m using it combined with diet and exercise, I can’t see any results.
I started BBL very happy and motivated because I thought I’d finally love myself, but now I’m more depressed. I started thinking all the reviews are fake and I won’t reduce and tone up my tights never. I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong… Maybe these exercises are only for the butt and they won’t help me to reduce and tone up my tights and erase the cellulite. Not working my legs every day (because of the sculpt and tummy tuck) makes me also feel like this won’t work for what I want to achieve.
I don’t even know why I’m writing you. I see you have achieved amazing results so I’d like to see on myself but everything seems not ok and I don’t know what I should do.
Thank you so much and sorry about disturbing you.
Hi Marie – I am really glad you contacted me – you can get the body you’ve always wanted – it is NOT impossible. You really don’t have to hide under a big tee forever. I would NEVER get into a bathing suit until last year when I did BBL – I, too, walked around in cover-ups that always hit below mid thigh and never wore shorts because of all the cellulite. Now, I can finally wear all that without feeling embarrassed like everyone is just looking at how gross my thighs were. Here are a few suggestions I have:
1. Get in the right frame of mind – you have to think you can and envision yourself how you want to look, because this is what can really help push you through a workout. And if you can’t make it through Bum Bum…who cares?! Just do the best you can. No one is judging you. If it takes you 60 days to make it through the workout, it doesn’t matter. I couldn’t do Bum Bum either in the beginning, but I just kept pushing through it. I did everything at about half effort that they did and walked it out if I felt like I was too out of breath. By week five or six, I was finally completing the workout.
2. Take pictures and track measurements. The scale isn’t the most accurate measurement of weight loss. Sometimes when you think you haven’t changed your body at all, all you need to do is look at the first day you snapped a shot of yourself vs the present day. Seeing really is believing.
3. Switch to the Combination schedule – it is more challenging and works your butt more and gives more cardio, which will help diminish the look of cellulite. Like i said before, if you can’t make it through the workouts, don’t worry – you will get there eventually.
4. Don’t waste your money on anti-cellulite cream. The only way to really get rid of cellulite (or at least mostly!) is to eat clean, drink lots of water, and exercise. Anti-cellulite cream just plumps up your skin temporarily so you don’t see the lumps and bumps.
5. Use weights when you do High & Tight and Sculpt. The strength training parts are what are going to slender down your hips and even-out your proportions.
6. Another thing I think you really need to start doing is tracking your calories. You should always eat a healthy ratio of foods – including healthy fats! While it sounds like you’re eating whole foods, not eating fat can counteract your weight loss progress as can not eating enough calories. I would suggest eating 1200-1400 calories.
7.Join a fitness group, like the one I am starting this weekend (I’ll email you an invite). It helps keep on the right track and gives you the motivation you’ll need to keep going by chatting with others who are doing the same workout as you. I’m going to be part of the group as well, so even I will let you know how my workouts went for the day and how it felt – what I eat…tasty recipe ideas, and more :)
Seriously, don’t give up! While some reviews out there are fake, I purposely tracked each week, so you could see the small changes. It won’t happen overnight, so please don’t get discouraged. If I can do it, so can you! You’re young – you need to start feeling good about yourself and your body…not ashamed. We can get you there…I promise! I’ll keep in touch
just bought bbl and I am having a really hard time figuring out a good and easy diet to follow because I am not very good with eating healthy, that’s probably the reason why I have not lost a lb in about a year. I am 22 y/o with an almost 2 y/o daughter and weight about 170. i am also only 5’2 so I feel horrible about myself right about now. if you could help I would very much appreciate it!!
btw you look great!!
Hi Maribel – first of all, please don’t feel horrible about yourself. Instead, be proud that you’ve made the decision to change your body :) Keeping a positive attitude is key in sticking with new, healthier eating habits and new exercise program. If you have a really hard time eating healthy, the best thing would be to get rid of all the junk food in your house, so even if you have a craving for junk food, there will be nothing but healthy food to eat. It’s human nature when it comes to depriving yourself of food you love – no one has that much willpower if it’s sitting right in the cupboard. The way to prevent it is to keep that kind of food out of your home – at least until you lose all the weight you want.
Another tip I find useful is to eat junk food, healthy style – like homemade pizza on whole wheat dough with natural, low sugar pizza sauce, and 3/4c low-fat shredded mozzarella or shredded pizza cheese topped with veges or chicken breast cut into finger size pieces coated in browned panko flakes and baked. Then, you can use a little bit of your favorite low-fat sauce, whether it be buffalo or low-fat honey mustard…the choices are endless – you just have to be creative.
Another option is trying to shoot for eating healthy 80% of the time with the other 20% not-so-healthy. After you eat, document how you feel afterwards. Usually, it’s surprising to learn how the junk food #1, doesn’t keep you full very long, and #2, makes you feel overall lousy afterwards.
I hope this helps, but if you do have any other questions or need a little bit of motivation, please contact me. Just remember to take it one day at a time, because you really can do it – good luck!
Great information on this website. I really don’t like cardio axe. I did it many times and just can’t get into it. I have p90x, insanity, p90x2 and asylum2. What would you recommend as a substitute? I’m no longer in very good shape and have some lower back pain from sitting so much at work. Thanks!
Hi Allison, you’re definitely not the first person to not like Cardio Axe :) The bad news is that there is really no viable replacement workout from any of the other programs that will give you the same butt-sculpting and middle-whiddling dance-inspired moves that Cardio Axe was specifically designed for. If you really can’t stand it, I would suggest mixing in some of the core workouts from the other programs to help with your back pain as a substitute, which will also help strengthen your back and putting in an extra High & Tight workout each week to get some extra butt-sculpting in. Remember to take it one day at a time – you will get in better shape before you know it, and your back pain will become a thing of the past. Good luck!
Does Brazil Butt Lift can make my bum smaller, trim big thighs into slim thighs, and slim down my calves(not bulk)?
Hi Micayla, to answer your questions briefly…YES!!! BBL will reduce the size or your butt and thighs and smooth out your silhouette from head to toe – even though pesky calves. I had larger calves that I did not want to size up, and BBL made them smaller and more sculpted – no bulk added :) Hope this helps!
heyy!! your results are awesome!!!!
I would really need your help!! I ll be honest with you..a friend of mine send me the videos of the workouts, but i have no idea if the videos are missing any parts, can you please tell me the duration of those videos:bum bum rapido, bum bum, cardio axe, hight and tight, sculpt, tummy tuck, just to ensure that i have the complete workouts!!! I have no idea what schedule should i follow, my butt its not lifted at all, if you put a pencil it will stay there for hours heheh:P , and i have a slidly muffin top!!
What about the brazil butt lift nutrition diet, is it needed?? :/ what nutrition did you follow during your workouts?? And something last, what equipment do i have to get??
P.s: Do i need any other videos from those which i wrote above???
Hi Sophia, congratulations on your decision to do BBL :) There are timers on every video, so that should let you know if you have the full duration video or not. For information on everything else you’re asking, the search button on my website is a HUGE help. You can find everything from nutrition to what equipment you’ll need, as well as what schedule to follow. Here are short answers to your questions:
1. Sculpt: 50 minutes, High & Tight: 40 minutes, Bum Bum: 30 minutes, Cardio Axe: 30 minutes, Tummy Tuck: 20 minutes. These are rounded times, they are not exact.
2. Check out my Booty Blueprint Guide article. I am thinking you should follow the Classic schedule since you need to lift, shape, and lose some fat. You can download the Brazil Butt Lift workout calendar.
3. The BBL nutrition diet is really helpful, because it lets you know how many calories you need to eat. If you don’t have it, stick to whole foods in ratios of 30-40% lean protein, 30-40% whole grain and or vege/fruit carbs, and 25-30% healthy fats.
4. Equipment needed is dumbbells ranging from 3-10 lbs or a resistance band, ankle weights, yoga mat, and a strength band for your legs/ankles.
Hope this helps, but if you have any other questions, please let me know. Good luck!
Hey again!!
What color of strength band should i buy? Are the colors universal from wherever you buy them with the same resistance??
Hi Sophia! Unfortunately, the colors are not universal across all companies. I used Fitness Gear strength bands, and I know the colors were different than the ones you can purchase from Beachbody or even from Walmart. I would suggest purchasing one pack of three strength bands that range from light to heavy resistance – they run about $17-$20. When you first begin the program, use the lightest weight one. As time goes by and that one gets too easy to use, try using the medium resistance one and so on. If you only buy one lightest resistance band, you are not going to sculpt your muscles as much as if you have the varying resistance as your body gets used to exercising. On the other hand, if you just purchase a heavy weight resistance band when you’re first working out, you are not going to perform the moves properly – which means you’re not going reap the full benefits of the program. I hope this helps, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Hello!
I am on day 51 of insanity and looking for my nex challenge! i love insanity and has helpt my waist shrink! but since i am a pear shaped lady my butt just seams bigger LOL. so i was thinking about doing BBL. However i have a few questions. How come you were only eating 1400 calories? because when i do the calculation i come up to 2500 calories! now granted i want to lose weight so i take off 500 calories. But for the past month and a half i havent lost any weight! i usually dont come up to 2000 calories a day i come up to maybe 1800 and i am eating as clean as a can. I live in europe and they dont sell shakeology here but i do drink a protein shake. i have habbit of having a snack after dinner but i never go over my calorie intake. do you have any sugestions? and do you think BBL might be my solution?
Hello Lili! Congratulations on near completion of Insanity – glad to hear you’re already looking for a new challenge :) BBL would help even out your proportions with its high repetitions targeted at all of your butt muscles and fat blasting cardio. I think BBL could be your solution – it was the right workout to even me out.
To answer your questions, I was eating 1400 calories, because I was 142 lbs, so for BBL, you multiply your weight in pounds by 10 and round to the nearest 100 calories. However, I did eat closer to 1600 calories each day, because on 1400, I was a little too hungry.
For you, I would suggest cutting back your calories by 200 per day. 1600 calories per day is a good number if you’re trying to lose weight. Then, you can see if you’ve lost any weight by next week and adjust your calories as needed. Protein shakes are a good choice, since you can’t get Shakeology…I think they’re working to sell it internationally. If you snack after dinner, just make sure it’s something wholesome and not grainy carbs. I liked eating non-fat plain yogurt mixed with frozen blueberries at night if I was hungry. Snacking at night is not a bad thing – it’s more about what you’re eating. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Good luck!
I should add that I am only 5’1″
I love your website and all of the information to read. I do have a question. I heard the Brazil Butt Lift has a Workout Calendar for 30 days. Do you simply repeat the 30 Day Calendar for the second month to equal the 60 days or is the second month different?
Hi April – BBL does have a 30-day workout calendar. Regardless of what schedule you follow the first month, it recommends following the Classic schedule for the last month. If you end up doing the Classic schedule first, you simply do it again for the second month, but switch up the weeks for some variety. However, if you really want, you can always try one of the other workout schedules. What I did was follow the Classic schedule for 30-days, and then for the last month, I followed the four most difficult weeks I could find from all four workout schedules. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the information. I have seen the workout plans and what you do for each week. What did you decide were the most difficult weeks you could find from all four workout schedules for your last month after the first 30 days? Hope to hear back! Thanks!
Hi April, when looking for the most difficult workouts, I looked for weeks from all four schedules that had more of the longer workouts or lots of Bum Bum. When choosing your own, keep in my mind that some workouts are more focused on strength training and some are more cardio-based, so make sure you get in enough good variety. The weeks I liked and ended up choosing were weeks 3 & 4 of the “Too Big” solution and weeks 2 & 3 of the Combination schedule (adding in Abs Rapido and Secret Weapon to the Sculpt days and switching up the weeks). I felt this got in enough of the sculpting with plenty of cardio to burn the rest of my unwanted fat – plus, it changed the workouts up a bit to prevent boredom. Hope this helps! Good luck!
Hi Bethany,
I wanted to thank you so much for being an inspiration. I had a quick question regarding the second month of the BBL classic schedule that you followed. In a comment on your blog post you said:
“When looking for the most difficult workouts, I looked for weeks from all four schedules that had more of the longer workouts or lots of Bum Bum. When choosing your own, keep in my mind that some workouts are more focused on strength training and some are more cardio-based, so make sure you get in enough good variety. I wanted to know for your Sculpt days, were you adding both Abs Rapido AND Secret Weapon to the routine in a single day (ie. 3 workouts in 1 day) or alternating eg. Sculpt + Abs Rapido on a Monday, followed by Sculpt + Secret Weapon on a Wednesday etc. Or do you mean one combo a specific week, and then the other combo the next week when relevant? Any other additional insights in your schedule layout for the second month would be greatly appreciated as well!
Thanks again,
Prestonia
Hi Bethany,
I bought BBL because of your blog, I did a ton of research, but I wanted to see what “real” results look like, and not just the girls on the videos! I am in the second day of the supermodel slim down, I decided to start with this to get my body used to eating less calories when I am on the full BBL schedule. I have had to make some substitutions due to allergies, but I have been trying to eat within the I have a few questions I hoped you’d be willing to answer.
1. From the booty guide, looks like I should follow the “too much” plan, I think it’s slim and lift? Question is – is it an intense enough workout? Should I stick to the classic?
2. I did the cardio axe for the first time yesterday – I am worried I am not coordinated enough to keep up! Since this is the cardio portion of the program, I will try to follow along, but as long as I am moving and sweating, I should be ok, right?
3. I know it’s best to work out in the morning – but sometimes I just don’t have the time – any tips for a better time of day? Will it matter much if one day I work out in the morning, the next in the afternoon? And if I have to split up the days there are 2 dvd’s in the program, if I do them at different times?
4. I take a kettlebell class twice a week that I really don’t want to give up, and thoughts on of this is a bad idea or adjustments I can make? I was thinking, since I use loseit to track, on days I take that class, I can up my calories to make sure I am still hitting my target consumption.
5. Last one, I promise! Any suggestions for how to track BBL in something like loseit or myfitnesspal?
Thanks so much, I’m hoping for great, healthy results!!
Hi Lia, Happy to hear my blog helped you choose BBL! To answer your questions:
1. I honestly feel like the classic plan is the toughest and most well-rounded of the schedules. The “too big” solution has you doing lots of cardio and not quite as much toning. I like the classic schedule, because it gives you the right amount of strength training and cardio to really shape your muscles while burning away the fat simultaneously to reveal the muscle you’ve been sculpting underneath. It’s really up to you though, since you can always do the “too much” solution first, and then the classic plan the last four weeks.
2. Please don’t worry about not being able to follow Cardio Axe…you are definitely not alone :) As long as you are moving throughout the entire video, yes, you will get good results. Before you know it, you’ll be doing the moves before they do!
3. The best time of day to work out is when you have enough time and are able to give it your all. Personally, I loathe working out in the morning, so I rarely did. It was usually early afternoon, but it always changed to work around my schedule. It will not affect your results if you workout one morning, and then workout the next evening…what’s most important is that you work out.
4. If you love your kettlebell class, by all means, keep it. It’s good that you’re tracking your calories, so making sure you’re eating enough to cover you for the day is a perfect idea. If you want, you could even switch out your kettlebell class for the Sculpt workout if you’re doing the same types of moves.
5. Not sure what they give you for options (I’m almost positive they don’t have any BBL workouts), but I would use an option like aerobics for Cardio Axe and Bum Bum, and then use some type of weight training for Sculpt, High & Tight, and Tummy Tuck. There might be an abdominal workout one that you could use for Tummy Tuck, but if not, just use weight training. It’s not perfect, but it’s usually close enough.
I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Good luck!
Thank you! So I have a “dumb” question. During the slim down I know I need to just follow the diet and exercise. For BBL I am supposed to have 1500 calories a day (I’ll have to recalculate after SMSD hopefully). Am I supposed to make sure I take in 1500 calories total (meaning should I eat say, 1700 if I am burning 200 in workouts to even out to 1500 or just eat 1500 and work out). Perhaps I am paying too much attention to the calorie intake…I get nuts about these things!
Hi Lia, not a dumb question at all. The total calories you will be eating is 1500/1400 total – whatever it ends up being after SMSD. And genuinely speaking, I would not suggest going below 1400 calories at all during the workout unless you will starve. If you have any sort of metabolism, you will just shut it down by doing that. If you have any other questions, please don’t be afraid to ask.
HI Bethany, thanks much! I think maybe I didn’t ask my question well – if I am to eat 1500 calories – should 1500 be what I consume total or what I maintain? Meaning, if I eat 1500, burn 300 exercising, should I eat 300 to recoup what I burned off?
Hi again Lia! I understand what you were trying to tell me…what I was trying to tell you is that 1500 calories per day is what you should be eating – total. You should not add in any extra calories to recoup for what you burned off – that 300 calories you burn each time you exercise is what is going to help you lose weight. Hope that helps :)
Totally makes sense! I think lack of calories is frying my brain :) day 5 of smsd- down 3 pounds and 3 inches!
My fitness pal gives me 1200 a day and I burn between 150-300 calories per day according to my HRM. If I eat 1400 a day I gain.
I should add that I am only 5’1″
Hi Melany, if you gain weight eating 1400 calories and haven’t lost consistently enough on 1200 calories, then I would suggest going down to 1100 – even though going below 1200 calories per day is not something I like to suggest. That being said, you are petite, so you really may need to cut down a bit more on your calories to really start blasting fat. Try 1100 for a week and see how you feel and how much more, if any, your body changes in that week. Good luck!
hi again I will try to do my best you really helpful first time when I saw your amazing body transformation and now when you tell take it easy thank you so much . I have question please after I do the workout I don’t feel hungry but I read that I supposed to eat anything with protein what do you think is the best to do since I do my workout all at night (9-10pm) thanks
Hello again Memo! Honestly, if you’re working out late and you’re not hungry, I wouldn’t eat anything after the workout. In a perfect world, everyone would have their protein shake after a workout, but it’s not always possible – in your case, I don’t think it’s worth it. Not having protein after your workouts will not affect your workouts or your results. The only thing it might have an effect on is how sore you are after the weight training videos and how quickly you are able to recover. I hope this helps, but if you do have any other questions, feel free to ask :)
Hi Bethany! I’ll repeat what everyone else has already said: YOU LOOK AMAZING!
I’m currently on my 4th day of the BBL workouts and in my 2nd phase of P90X which I started a month ago. I’m doing BBL in the mornings before work and P90X with my boyfriend in the evenings to get my energy level up. It’s been difficult but I am loving it! . I don’t think I’ve felt this strong since childhood when I had boundless energy! I thought that BBL would be easier after my first phase of P90X, nope! WRONG! Just did Cardio Axe last night and Sculpt/Bum Bum this morning, and holy cats it’s hard! My legs and bottom are constantly sore now (I stopped being sore after the 2nd week of the P90X workouts) which I don’t mind too much. To me, that’s a sign that I’m working it! Your blog is one of the most encouraging that I’ve seen so far and I’ll continually come back to look at your results for motivation =] Thank you so much for sharing your journey!
Hi Jenni – thanks so much for the compliments. I am truly happy to hear I’ve helped keep you motivated – that was the reason I’d kept the blog…to let others know they can do it too.
Congratulations on your own decision to get fit – that’s awesome! And yes, BBL is a lot more difficult than you’d think…especially with the name and its supposed “beginner” level. Keep up the good work, and if you ever have any questions along the way, please feel free to ask. Thanks again!
hi its my 3rd day and i feel so tired and frustrated that i feel all my movements wrong is this normal or just me . I’m in beginner levl or under it Do you think I have to stop now and get some exercise for a while before I begin again , I m doing the classic one which i don’t know if I m right or wrong thanks
Hi Memo, when you cut back your calories, you can initially feel like you have a lot less energy – especially if you cut them back too much. Add in working out, and you can end up feeling very tired. My recommendation for now would be to make sure you’re eating a well-rounded diet and add in at least 100 calories per day. You may need more calories to sustain energy levels depending on your natural metabolism. And please don’t get discouraged. I felt really tired my first week while my body adjusted to the drastic changes.
When I first started the BBL workout, I was a couch potato who could barely climb a flight of stairs before feeling like my heart was going to pound off my chest. I had to pause almost every DVD and walk it out during Cardio Axe. In a few weeks, I could finish almost every workout – not with as much gusto as the ladies in the video, but better than when I began. The thing to remember is it’s not a race…just take every workout at your own pace. If it takes you longer to build up your endurance, that’s 100% okay. Do the best you can. Before you know it, you will be doing every workout, smiling as you look back on how you couldn’t finish any of them in the beginning – at least that’s how it was for me.
You don’t need to do any other workout before BBL, because you can simply tone down every workout to suit your fitness level. Don’t use weights, don’t jump around as much as they do, and don’t do as many reps as they do – or move as quickly. As long as you get yourself moving, you’re already taking a giant step in the right direction. It really doesn’t matter if you’re doing the moves right or not as long as you don’t injure yourself. Keep going…I promise it will get easier. Good luck!
Your results give me hope! I am shaped exactly like your before photo. I am on day 5 of the BBL and love it so far. I really hope I can lose 2 inches on my hips!
Hi Melany, congratulations on your decision to get fit with BBL! I’m glad to hear you like it so much already…that’s great news :) I am sure you will be able to lose several inches off your hips and get the body you’ve always wanted by the end of the program. If you have any other questions along the way, please feel free to ask – I am here to help. Good luck!
Thanks Bethany! Do you think I could skip tummy tuck? Or maybe do it on my rest day? My waist is already where I want it to be. Also, I have been getting headaches after I do some of the workouts, not sure if that is normal?? I am drinking a ton of water.
Hi Melany, I would not skip Tummy Tuck, because it is what is going to tone your abs and strengthen your core muscles, which is essential for standing taller and preventing back pain. You can absolutely do it on your rest day or break up your workouts where you’ll be doing one workout earlier in the day and the other later in the day.
As for the headaches, they are usually a sign of dehydration if you have no underlying medical causes such as migraines, etc. Do you ever experience any dizziness with the headaches? If so, check with your doctor before continuing with the workout, although sometimes dizziness just has to do with blood sugar amounts and not having enough energy to work off of when exercising.
Pending you have no accompanying dizziness, what I would do for now is try to drink 16 ounces of water an hour before your workouts and see if that helps. If it doesn’t help, I would try Gatorade before during and after your workout. Also, make sure you’re getting in a good pre-workout meal to ensure you have the right amount of energizing nutrients you need. And just so you are aware, there is a point where you might be drinking too much water, which can lead to your flushing too many essential vitamins and minerals out, leaving you with nothing to work off of and a major headache – 64 oz a day is a good amount to aim for or half of your body weight in ounces of water per day, broken up to be drunk throughout the entire day…not 8 glasses of water crammed into a 2 hour period.
I hope this helps for now, but if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Hey Bethany,
Well I am on week 3 and the headaches have gone away. phew. And tummy tuck has gotten easier. The only program I really struggle with is Bum Bum. I still pause a lot.
I am confused as to whether I should be eating to lose weight or maintain. I don’t really want to lose a ton of weight.. just 1.5-2 inches on my hips. I am getting a little discouraged that I am only down .5 on my hips so far.
I will say my bum is definitely getting lifted!
Hi Melany, glad to hear the headaches went away…it’s really not that uncommon when one first starts working out to have that happen. And don’t worry about Bum Bum – it took me a very long time to finish it in its entirety.
If you’re looking to lose inches, you are looking to “lose weight”, which means you may want to cut your calories back more. You don’t have to reduce your calories drastically, but enough that you start to lose a little bit more fat off your hips should have you down to where you want to be by the end – even 100-200 calories less per day should do. :) Hope this helps!
Amazing results! I signed up today on teambeachbody.com would like to make you my coach but i can’t figure out how?
Hi Ashley, here is a link about making me your coach – https://thefitnessfocus.com/brazil-butt-lift/free-coaching-join-team-beachbody – I also sent you an email!
Just wanted to say you look amazing! You motivated me to start BBL and I’m now on Day 5 and loving it. I had one question for you…did you keep track of your other measurements during the 8 weeks? I want to lose some inches in my thighs and was wondering what results you got in your legs.
Hi Melissa, congrats on your decision to get in shape! I did keep track of all my measurements during the program with the measurement tracker card they give you. I lost 5.25″ overall in my hip area and 3″ off of each thigh. I hope this helps :) Good luck!
Hi I would like to know will brazil butt lift give me a pear shape and toned body? Because I’m more of a apple shape and I have some Curves but I don’t want to lose all of it .
Hi Angel, Brazil Butt Lift is not just for women who want to lose weight, BBL comes with four schedules to choose from depending on the butt you want to get. Sounds like you need to follow the Lift & Shape schedule of BBL. It is designed for women who want to add more oomph to their backside.
Thank you so much . And One More question !:) I have a belly and I don’t like it how long will it take to go down if I’m doing the tummy tuck ?
Hi Angel, how soon your belly will take to go down really depends on how much you have to lose. It could take as little as three weeks if there’s not much around your middle, but if there’s a substantial amount of fat, it could take the entire eight weeks. My bottom was my biggest area of concern, and although I saw improvement week to week, I would say around week five was when I saw a HUGE improvement. And please remember, while Tummy Tuck will help sculpt your entire abdominal region, it is the cardio workouts like Cardio Axe and Bum Bum that are really going to get rid of the fat, which will reveal all your hard work. Unfortunately, it always takes longest to get rid of the area of your body you find most problematic, but it will happen. You can also try the combination schedule if you have a substantial amount of weight/fat you’re looking to lose on top of rounding out your bottom. Good luck!
Hi Bethany I just got my DVD today, I hope to start on Monday…….fingers crossed, thanks for the tip I’ll do exactly as you say to stay motivated..thanks a lot
Hi Adaeze – you’re very welcome, and good luck! Let me know if you have any questions :)
Hello, I have started the program and I feel sore all over n did is just the second day, unfortunately for me one of the Dvd’s is not working ( high & tigh and sculpt) and I don’t know how to get a replacement since I did not get it from beachbody directly….I was following the classic solution do u have any recommendation to work around the workouts till I get a replacement thank you
Hi Adaeze, I would definitely suggest contacting wherever you purchased your program from and seeing if they can replace the DVD or the entire program if necessary. Unfortunately, High & Tight and Sculpt are two of THE most important exercises for the workout. They are both weight-training workouts, which are what will really sculpt your tush and the rest of your body. Until you do get a replacement, I would suggest following the TriAngle training cards to substitute the High & Tight DVD. While these moves are no substitute for the workout, they’ll help some. To replace Sculpt, you will want to get in a full body weightlifting workout, not overdoing it on your legs, that includes classic weight-training moves like push-ups (with or without knees down), overhead presses, squats, lunges, deadlifts, and so on. Of course in the video, these moves are done in combinations to hit several areas of your body all at once, but I wouldn’t worry about that – just getting in 40 minutes of weightlifting will make a difference. But makes sure you do get replacements, because there really is no viable substitute for either. Hope this helps, but if you should have any other questions, please ask. PS – Feeling sore for the first week is totally normal (I was too!) – the good news is that you will feel less sore as you get further into the workout :)
Thanks a lot, I eventually got a replacement for the CD n I see the importance, however I noticed am always hungry n I jst wanted to know if this is normal since am still breastfeeding cos it’s making difficult to watch wot I eat
Hi Adaeze, that’s great news – glad to hear you were able to get your replacement so quickly! It is NOT normal to feel hungry all the time. Since you are breastfeeding, try to eat at least 1500-1800 calories per day – the closer your caloric intake to 1800, the better. You may even need more than that depending on how you feel, because when you breastfeed, you burn 200-500 more (sometimes even more!) calories per day than you normally would. Add in a rigorous workout, and you’re a calorie-burning mama :) Taking in less than 1500 calories per day may also put your supply at risk, so definitely stay above that. The good news is women can safely lose 1.5 lbs per week while breastfeeding without any complications. Good luck, and if you have any other questions or need help with anything, please let me know.
Hello, sorry for asking a lot of questions but I want to know if dis week 2, did u use ankle weight for every workout including the ones that it wasn’t recommended u use like bum bum n cardio axe…thanks
Hi Adaeze, please don’t apologize for asking questions…that’s what I’m here for. I only used ankle weights for the High & Tight workout. I would not recommend using them on any other workout. Hope this helps :) If you do have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Hi Bethany
Thanks for getting back to me by answering my concerns and your words of encouragement- it really means alot to me-you are my coach and cheering squad ! But I am still a little bit confused about the Benedict formula. So what you are saying is that once I have obtained my goal weight and measurements -that I should use the formula for maintenance? If that is correct I will definitely keep working out but not to the intensity of the BBL, maybe I would only do the BBL or other type of work out 3-4 / week. So what would be the formula for moderate intensity? Or should I work out with heavy intensity formula? It just seems like a lot of calories to injest 2402.5 and I don’t want to turn into a fat pig on maintenance.
In the past I can see that I ate low calories all the time – around 1400 to 1600 while doing major workouts- running 4 kilometres 4 times per/week, the curves workout 3 times per/ week , along with taking my dog for a 45 minute walk 7 days per/week. Also my food preference was always food with low carbs, a higher fat content, fruit and a lot of veggies. I love the taste of fat I must admit-my food choices always had a high fat content. I guess a proper eating plans really makes a difference. I also think i was eating to little calories for all the working out I did and maybe I slowed down my metabolism? To make matters worse I skipped breakfast and had 3-4 cups of coffee with loads of creme and sugar. lastly the bulk of my calorie intake was after 4 pm. I think by running so much I have also bulked up my legs instead of sliming them down.
This is going to be a lot of hard work, changing my long ingrained eating patterns.
I am going to switch to the combination schedule as you suggested next week and may consider doing the super model slim down too.
I still have doubts that my body will change. But I checked your measurements and weight difference per/week and it amazes me that some weeks you barely lost any weight but you still continued to stick with it and loose inches. You are truly dedicated and didn’t get discouraged ! I know I am repeating myself but I definitely would have said – – – – it ! If i only lost a pound per/ week I would have quit the program. But then I see that in the weeks you lost 3-4 pds per week by sticking with it
I also will let you know that my bodyfat is 28 percent and my wrist measurement is for a medium build 6.25.
Would you be open to letting me know your height? And did you also work out your bodyfat prior to starting the program? I just wonder because we are almost the same weight and have very similar body shapes.
Thanks again.
Crystal R
Hi Crystal, Unless you are super tall, 2400 calories seems like way too much. I would suggest 1800-2000 calories for maintenance after BBL if you still are going to do less intense activity. I eat around 2000-2200 for maintenance.
Fat does taste good, but unless it’s healthy fats from olive oil or nuts, try to keep it at less than 30% of your total daily calories. And make sure to eat your protein! It’s the protein that will help you build lean muscle. If you can, try to lose the cream and sugar in your coffee – can you drink it black? Do you like tea? Either way, I would cut down to two cups of coffee per day if you can…it will be better for you in the long run, not just during the program. I do think your calories were too low for all you were doing all the previous activity. Probably 1800 would’ve been better. If you don’t see yourself losing weight after a week, you need to start reevaluating your caloric intake because you are either eating too much or too little. Sometimes, it’s very hard to find the right number of calories to lose weight without losing too much weight. Changing your eating habits is never easy. Before BBL, I was a junk food diva, but after, I seldom ever crave junk food.
Regarding having bigger legs, BBL will help. It does repetitive movements that slender down your leg muscles while burning fat.
And please don’t worry, your body will change with hard work and dedication. I’m telling you, take pictures! When you don’t lose a lot of weight each week, it’s not from not losing fat, it’s from gaining muscle while losing fat. Muscle weighs more than fat – always remember that. Only a photo will help you realize your body really is changing :)
I am 5’8″. Out of curiosity, do you have already have a Beachbody account?
I have no doubt in my mind you can get the body you want – good luck!
Hi Bethany!
First, congrats on your results!
You look amazing!!
I, have a different problem than most people. I am skinny, and can’t gain the proper weight my whole life.
I don’t know what to do.
Can you give me some advice?
I am 180cm tall and used to be 55kg! I know, that’s very very very skinny for my hight.
But somehow last summer I gained 5kg, and now I am 60kg. I can’t forget how my confidence grew and all my friends gave me compliments how I got prettier. I was so so so happy! But I haven’t moved with my weight since. I actually lost a kg, now I am 59kg -.-
If you could help me somehow, I would really be thankful.
Thank you!
Hi Kristina – Being too thin is a different kind of problem than most people, but it is just as frustrating…I know. Every time I visited my grandmother growing up, she would ask (almost yelling) my parents if they ever fed me, because I looked emaciated.
What I would suggest working on is building muscle. Not only will it help increase your weight, it will also get you looking curvier where you most likely need it. You can read my article about How to Get a Bigger Butt. BBL will get you a curvier derriere, but it will also help you sculpt the rest of your body to add curves and weight without giving you too much fat burning cardio…that’s not what you really need.
Other things to work on would be your calorie intake – I’m sure you’re eating until you feel satisfied, but trying to get in some more calories can’t hurt. If you began eating 500 more calories each day than you’re currently eating, you would gain a pound per week without having to do anything else. However if you are going to start weight training with BBL, you would want to add at least 200 more calories to help make up for the activity. If you find it hard to eat that much, a weight gaining shake like Optimum Nutrition’s Serious Mass could be another option.
Ultimately, your calories are something you will need to play with regardless of whether you’re looking to gain or lose weight…you may need to add more calories (or heavier weights to your routine) if you don’t see a change on the scale. Also go by how you look…the scale is never “all-telling”. If you have any other questions, please ask. Good luck!
Hi Bethany,
Your results are amazing. I did the BBL last year but only stuck with it for about one month and lost about three inches off my hips, also two inches off my thighs and stomach. I could not believe how the BBL lifted my butt-it was raised up like a beach ball like when I was 12 years old! I did not take pictures or track my progress by measuring as you did. I have the same figure as you – major pear shape-but my legs are bigger, along with cellulite, fat bulges and stretch marks. I have been an avid runner for my entire life along with the curves workout but I could never fully slim down my lower body.
I really appreciate your journey and the way you tracked your progress – it show me that i should not get discouraged if i only loose two pounds per/week and a few inches. That is why i gave up after one month because i thought i was not loosing enough. ( I was expecting faster results and got discouraged and gave up ). You are a determined girl and i can see that you stuck with the program for two months seeing little results each week which eventually added up to your amazing weight loss , loss in inches around your lower body and totally in portion figure!
I have just started the slim and shape program again and I am on day number three. This time around I am going to follow your example by tracking my progress with pictures and measurements. I may even change to program that you did.
I have a question for you. When I read the calorie requirements on the BBL nutrition plan it is totally different than what you followed? The BBL plan says that you should multiply your weight by 10 but you have followed a Harris Benedict formula. I am 41 years old and my weight is 142 pds and I am 5’6.5 in height. If I follow the BBL plan I am supposed to eat 1400 calories but if I follow your plan I would eat 2402.15 calories which is a difference of 1000 calories. Can you please clarify this for me or maybe I am just reading your posts wrong. For now I will stick to 1400 calories until I hear from you
I feel that I am over weight and would like to go down to 125 pds or 130 pds
I really would appreciate your feed back
Crystal R
Hi Crystal R, Congratulations on starting back up to get the body you want! And, I am glad to hear you found my progress motivating. As for calories, I followed the 1400 calories for the BBL diet. I only use the HB formula to figure in calories when I was losing weight without a real workout program a while back or like now…to maintain my weight. However, it’s still a matter of playing around with calories, because everyone’s metabolism is different.
I think sticking to 1400 calories is a good place for you to start. If you’re starving and not losing any weight after a week, try upping your calories by 200 per day, and then see where you’re at the following week. The same holds true for if you gain weight, simply cut down by 200 calories.
Do you plan on following the 6-day Supermodel Slimdown? If not, it’s something you should consider if you’re looking to cut weight faster. While its only for a week, it can make all the difference in your results. Plus, I really feel it helped smooth out some of my cellulite by reducing water retention. You really don’t have a lot of weight to lose overall, so I am positive you could get down to 125 if you stick to the diet, eat whole foods, and do every workout. I do think you’ll get the best results from the Combination schedule as it will help get rid of any bulging and slim down the hip and thigh area. The pear-shape isn’t quite as intense.
And, it really does help taking pictures, because after week one, I really didn’t know if it was worth all the work…until I looked at the pictures side by side and knew I had to continue to see where I could end up. Think of it this way: the weight didn’t come on overnight, so it’s not going to leave in just a month no matter how much you’d like it to. Changes in your body that you will be able to maintain in the long run are better done slowly. I NEVER thought I could ever get a more proportionate body with my figure, but I did, and there is no doubt in my mind you can too. If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to email. Good luck!
Hi, you look amazing am a new mum (had my baby in September) and am lookin forward to starting this workout cos I really need to slim down my thigh n tummy , I am really motivated by your progress n I hope I get the same result….it’s difficult staying motivated when doing these workout routines…I’ll keep u posted
Hi Adaeze – Congratulations on being a new mum! How exciting :) And, congratulations on wanting to get your figure back! BTW – thank you for your kind words. I’m glad I gave you the motivation you needed. Definitely if you have any questions along the way, feel free to ask. And if you ever need motivation, let me know – that’s what I’m here for. A good tip that I personally liked, which helped keep me on track, is to track your results (measurements and weight) each week and take weekly photos. I know it seems a little conceited, but seeing the difference in the photos week to week is what really kept me going strong the entire time…something I’d never been able to accomplish before with any other at-home workout program. I’m sure you’ll get the tummy and thighs you want in no time following BBL. Good luck!
You look AMAZING!
I just started the classic solution option today, first day!
On the Bum Bum workout, I did pretty well for my first time. My living room is in remodel right now, so I had to use my room. I did have to take a few breaks only because my room isn’t really suitable so I had to keep moving around to incorporate the moves better, making me feel like I didn’t do it as efficiently as I should have. I am not the least bit sore! Is that okay? From reading alot of comments about it, most people say they are super sore. My legs feel a little bit heavier, but that is about it. Is it okay to do your recommended workouts for the day, twice?
Another question, did you do the 6 day Supermodel Slimdown Plan?
Hi Mariah, thank you for the compliment. Congratulations on beginning your BBL adventure :) Honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about not being sore quite yet. When you first begin to work out, sometimes it can take anywhere from several hours to a few days later to really feel “sore”. It’s a phenomenon known as delayed onset muscle soreness or DOMS. The fact that your legs feel heavier means you definitely worked them – please don’t take this as you’re not reaping the benefits of the program. You may also feel it more when you have enough space to really do everything to your full ability.
As for the Supermodel Slimdown, I did do it, and I would highly recommend it if you’re looking to get out of a sugary, junk food habits or even just bad overeating habits (like me!). It really does slim you down and gets you away from craving chips, chocolate, cake, or candy. Just be sure to follow the recommended workouts for each day as not to overdo it. You will definitely feel weak from eating so few calories, which is why you only follow it for only 6 days. Good luck, and if you have any questions further down the road, please feel free to ask!
Hi Bethany,
Thank you for sharing your results and photos! So inspiring! I’ve been interested in trying BBL for a while now but wasn’t sure how accurate results could be. Now that I know what could be accomplished in 60 days because of your honest review, I REALLY need to order this. I’ve also been really interested in Shakeology. Do you recommend a certain flavor? My instinct is to choose chocolate (of course!) but I’ve tried other powdered chocolate protein drinks and they kinda stink. Plus, they seem to mix up to nothing with just water. Also, how many times a day did you usually drink Shakeology? I know I would have it as breakfast since I usually skip (bad, I know), but I don’t know how many calories it provides and wouldn’t want to overdo it. Sorry for all the questions!
Hi Beth – Shakeology really saved me during BBL, because it was so easy to drink it up when I had no time. It also gives my skin a nice warm glow, which is also very nice. I still drink Shakeology almost every day…just because it’s healthy, it’s fast, and it’s easy. I recommend the tropical strawberry flavor, because I find it the easiest and most pleasant to mix with other things with – it’s most refreshing. I always enjoy it mixed with a cup of Wyman’s frozen triple berry mix, with a frozen banana, or even with a cup of frozen blueberries. They give you an entire month’s worth of recipes with your Shakeology, so you’ll never run out of creative breakfast options.
They do have an option where you can alternate between chocolate Shakeology and tropical strawberry Shakeology when you choose home direct shipping. Home direct shipping means the Shakeology is automatically shipped to you each month – free of shipping charges.I only drank Shakeology once a day, and it was most often for breakfast when I had the least amount of time. Strawberry has about 160 calories without anything in it. Add berries or fruit, and you hit over 200. Add in an apple, and you have at least 300 calories, which is a perfect amount to start your day.
If by chance you haven’t picked up Brazil Butt Lift and you’re going to order it with Shakeology, you can receive a slight discount (about $25) with free shipping on both the program and the Shakeology by using this link here. If you have any other questions along the way, please feel free to ask. Good luck!
What a transformation! How active were you previously? I am about 15-29 lbs overweight but zero conditioning. I have read so many reviews about people who did p90x or spinning etc then this. I can’t get through 7 minutes of the dvd without stopping feeling like I am going to die!
Hi K! Before BBL I, honestly, was pretty much a couch potato – unless you count walking from the couch to the kitchen physical activity. And, my diet was HORRIBLE! When I did my first workout, which happened to be Cardio Axe, I had a really tough time keeping up. I thought it was so tough. By the end, I loved doing the moves how they were intended to be done – it was so much more fun!
I just did everything the best I could (which was pretty pathetic compared to all the jumping around and swinging the ladies in the video do) until I gained more endurance, which remarkably, took less time than I thought it would with how awful I felt in the beginning. And when it was too much (when I felt like my heart would beat out of my chest), I did have to pause the DVDs every now and then to walk it out…especially during Bum Bum and halfway through Sculpt after the Mermaid push-ups.
My advice…just stick with it – you really will get through it even if you feel like it’s too much right now. March it out or pause the DVDs when you have to or even just do the moves with less gusto. In no time, you’ll be finishing the workouts without pausing or stopping to catch your breath. I still remember the first time I really completed Bum Bum with no breaks and doing all the reps, and I was psyched :) It feels really good once you make it, regardless of whether it takes a few weeks or a few months. Good luck and keep going!
Hi Bethany!
I am writing to tell you your blog and your before and after pictures have pushed me to start BBL. I have had it for a few months now but haven’t really done it consistently. Your before and after pictures specifically grabbed my attention because our shapes our similar (at least from the back in your before picture except Im a bit bigger and with a bit more fat on top :() I’m also shorter than you (5’4) However seeing the progress you made in only 2 moths is really quite amazing! I am following the Combination schedule. What’s funny though is even at my starting point that pencil does NOT stay under my butt…so I am lucky and very fortunate for that! I’m just a bit too wide for my liking and am carrying a bit too much fat.
I know you posted your 60 day results but what were your results like after one month?
Hi Leanne, I am happy to hear I motivated you, the results you can get with BBL are amazing, but you have to stick with it. I posted about my BBL week 4 results here. I also have weekly updates in the Brazil Butt Lift Journal category you can find in the sidebar. Hope that helps, Bethany
hey , um im really sorry , this is the last time i’ll bother you its just that I really wanna get results like yours so its a relief to talk to YOU ! anyways, so in BBL they use weights and I don’t want bulky arms , just lean and toned, like yours ;) so how many pounds should I use? and also, about the ankle weights, did you use 5 pounds from the first time? becoz I think Im gonna start with 1 pound, then add another and so on, yeah, and can I have a free meal once a week? like would it kill or affect my progress? and when did you start seeing results? this is my second week and I think ive lost a pound which is good I guess! and did you follow the exact same diet plan? , so those are my questions I guess, please answer all of them, im really sorry for the endless questions but I really wanna get results like yours , you make it look like BBL is the answer to get my summer body ready! I hope I get results like yours, and theres a workout called bum bum rapdio or something like that :P and its not In the calendar so what should I do with it? or just leave it ! and Im doing the classic one (combination) so when im done it says that I have to do it backwards or something I didn’t really get! again THANK YOU SO MUCH for answering my endless questions
Hi Jumm – please don’t worry too much about getting bulky, women do not gain muscle the same way men do. You would need to lift extremely heavy weights and take a testosterone supplement to get anywhere near as big as women bodybuilders do. I would use how ever much you feel comfortable lifting. For me, I used tens for biceps, leg work, and shoulders. But for back and some shoulder movements, I used anywhere from 3-8 lbs. Use heavy enough weight that your muscles feel the burn, but not so much that you’re feeling like you’ll never be able to lift weights again or that you feel pain.
As for ankle weights, I started with one of the six weights in the ankle weight and worked my way up as that particular weight felt easy…eventually reaching 5 lbs. As for a “free” meal each week, if you do this, just make sure you don’t go overboard. There is a difference between having a cheeseburger or a couple slices of pizza vs having an entire pizza or eating two quarter pounders :)
I started seeing changes in my figure after my first week. Although I didn’t really notice it myself, when looking at pics I’d taken to keep posted online, is when I knew I had to keep going. Congratulations on losing a pound! Slower weight loss is always the healthiest weight loss that you are also the most likely to keep off permanently. I didn’t follow the diet plan exactly, though, butI stuck to a 40/30/30 of protein/carbs/healthy fat or carbs/protein/healthy fat, depending on how my body felt for the day. I did like the recipes for the most part, but I also enjoyed my homemade healthy, low-fat pizza or some of my other lower fat recipes. I just made sure to stick to lean proteins, low-fat or fat-free dairy, fruits and veges, whole grains, and healthy fats.
As for Bum Bum Rapido, it’s really only a few minutes less than Bum Bum. I used it in place of Bum Bum every now and then for a change-up. If you’re doing the Classic schedule, all it means is to switch up the different weeks the second time through for the last four weeks, to add more variety to your workouts and keep your progress from plateauing.
hey again ;) , I have a question about the diet plan, do I really have to eat what they tell me to, becoz well im an Arab so the type of food we eat is sort of different so mom cooks for me and the food they’ll eat so I don’t want to bother her and she herself said that I have to start eating like I used to, so will I gain weight if I start eating like I used to, I mean, its healthy food but with some salt and olive oil, however i’ll eat brown rice and wheat bread, but dinner will be from BBL, and I’ll eat small portions of food on lunch if i’ll eat like I used to. and also I lost a pound the first week then gained three pounds the second week although I didn’t really see it in my body, but I don’t know, I had a free meal on the weekends here and there but I ALWAYS have free meals to keep myself motivated and well becoz food is GOOD :P so I don’t know is it normal, maybe its muscle I don’t know, but I was really upset, im starting hip hop abs today with BBL so hopefully ill burn more , and if I ate like I used to I wont gain weight becoz i’ll be burning more, and can I put the rest day on any day of the week if I had to ?, and when did you switch to a higher resistance band? I got a resistance band but its different, like its not connected, its like straight and you can tie it if you want, so hopefully I can find a higher resistance one. that’s all, thank you so much, and I know ive said this tons of times but I really am sorry if im bothering you with my endless questions <3 thank you
Hi Jumm – Your mom is right, I would eat what she cooks for you. Don’t worry about following the BBL diet. I didn’t follow it all the time – I just ate whole foods in the recommended caloric quantities. It sounds like you’re already eating whole foods, which is the most important part. Worry more about being healthy and not so much about losing weight. You can also keep track of your calories online, because you need to make sure you’re not eating too much or too little for your age – either can cause weight gain.
Losing a pound per week is awesome! I really wouldn’t worry too much about the weight gain. Gaining three pounds might just have to do with water weight or hormones…I gain weight for no reason sometimes :) If you do keep gaining weight, I would suggest using the following equation to figure out how many calories you should be eating for your age. You first need to determine your basal metabolic rate (BMR), which can be done with the following Harris Benedict Equation: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) – ( 4.7 x age). Then, you take this number, BMR x 1.725. Then, make sure you keep track of what you’re eating with an online calorie calculator.
I used the BBL resistance band for about a week before switching to the ones I purchased from Dick’s Sporting goods by Fitness Gear that were $17.99. I then used the least resistance, resistance band until I broke it about five weeks in. It was only then that I moved up a notch in resistance, which REALLY made me feel the burn. Please be careful with tying the band as not to hurt yourself if it comes undone or snaps. The one you are using is more for upper body exercises. You don’t want to get hurt just trying to get in shape.
And please remember not to do too much working out. I really wouldn’t do both workouts simultaneously, because it’s too much. You can always substitute in Hip Hop Abs workouts for some of BBL’s if you need a change. You’re young…enjoy life first and foremost. Don’t spend too much time worrying about your weight – have fun! Good luck, girl!
WOW! Incredible results. I’m waiting on my BBL to arrive. This gets me really excited! I plan on using the combination program too. I am starting out right around the same weight and measurements as you did and I will be so happy if I can achieve the same results! What is your height? again, phenomenal job. You should be the poster child for this program!
Hi Jessica – Thank you for your compliments – you are too kind. And congrats on your decision to get in shape! The combination program will have you looking your best in not time. Good luck, and if you have any questions along the way, please feel free to ask.
FYI – I am 5’8″ :)
You look amazing! I just got BBL in the mail today and i plan on starting tomorrow. I don’t need to lose any weight I just want to tone up before my 40th bday in May. i am concerned about the diet program; if i only eat 1400 CL a day I think I will lose weight and be too skinny. Also does it get rid of cellulite?
I am 5’8 and weight 122; 39 years old
Hi Lori, congratulations on making the decision to get toned and looking even better for your fortieth! Since you are already thin, I 100% agree with not cutting back on calories – it sounds like you burn enough calories naturally. While your diet should still consist of lean proteins, complex carbs and healthy fats (which will all help get rid of the cellulite along with tons of water and BBL), here is a good equation for figuring your daily caloric needs.
First, we’ll determine your basal metabolic rate (BMR), which can be done with the following Harris Benedict Equation:
BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x 122 ) + ( 4.7 x 68 ) – ( 4.7 x 39 ) = 1322.
You will then need to multiply your BMR (1322) times your activity level rating, which if you are doing BBL, is considered Heavy exercise (6–7 days per week) = BMR x 1.725 = 2280
You can start with around 2000-2280 and see where you stand after a week. If you gain too much, simply cut back by 200 calories and vice versa. It may take you a few weeks to find your happy medium for maintaining your weight.
As for BBL and cellulite, it really helps. You always read that cellulite is impossible to get rid of, but with BBL, it wasn’t that tough, and my family history is full of cellulite. The extra “smile” lines below my butt, cottage cheese on the backs of my thighs, above my knees, on my butt, and on my calves were all nearly gone in just 60 days. And what little bit was left just wasn’t even noticeable any more unless I pinched my skin really hard. No more dimples were visible anywhere! Just make sure you eat all whole foods if you can, drink lots and lots of water, and follow the program. The way the program tones your body, along with the healthy diet and flushing your system of toxins is what helps get rid of the cellulite, giving you smooth appearance you want. Good luck, and if you have any problems or questions along way, just let me know.
Thank you so much!
I was trying to add you as my coach on beachbody but with no luck. Any ideas?
Hi Lori – You’re very welcome – I’m glad I could help. It sounds like you might already have a coach, so I’ll send you an email with info on how to switch coaches – it’s very easy.
I just wanted to say how much i love your blog, i am only in my second week of BBL and so far lost two pounds and 6 inches. i cannot count the times i have revisited your site just for motivation in the past couple weeks. there are many before and after blogs out there but you and I have a very similar “before shape” and if i can get my body like yours by summer i will be one happy camper. i am normally used to losing weight very quickly and expected to see a little bit more of a two pound loss in two weeks which is a bit discouraging. i have added extra workouts to my daily routine , tummy tuck at least daily and high and tight more often that is listed on the calendar. Also i never take sundays off even if i just get in a two mile jog on the treadmill. this morning i woke up again discouraged at the slow pace of the scale but once again came on here read your post for like the fortieth time and am once again ready to go. So just wanted to stop for a moment and give my thank you!!!!
Hi Allie, thank you – I am happy to hear I’ve motivated you. First of all, congratulations on your results so far – while you think 2 lbs is not a lot, 6″ is amazing and you should be proud! I didn’t lose a ton of weight each week. All this means is that you’re gaining lean muscle mass, which weighs a lot more than fat and takes up less space – thus, the inches lost but not so much weight. This is what you want anyways. As for extra workouts, I would honestly just stick to the Classic schedule without the added workouts. You really don’t want to overdo it. You may lose more weight if you do the recommended workouts without adding in extra muscle building workouts like High & Tight and Tummy Tuck. Tummy Tuck is quite literally one of the hardest ab workouts out there – it is THE hardest ab workout Beachbody offers, hands down! That’s how I ended up with almost a solid six-pack in 60 days…something I have never had. Working out on your day off is fine, though. I did that often just to not feel lazy for relaxing :)
One question – are you taking weekly photos? Sometimes just reading your inches lost isn’t enough when you’re not losing a lot of weight, but when you see the change from week to week, that’s when you feel awesome. Trust me, I was a little disheartened when I didn’t lose a ton of weight the first week after feeling like I’d suffered and followed everything religiously, but it was only when I saw the side by side pictures after week one that I knew I couldn’t stop. Visual evidence is surprisingly motivating. Good luck, and if you have any other questions along the way, please let me know. I have no doubts in my mind that you’ll have the body you want by summer. You’ve started at a good time.
Awesome i will cut back a bit then and stick to the schedule. I have not taken pictures but will start today that is a great point although i can tell a slight difference just by looking and my husband has noticed a change as well but the physical evidence will be nice too!! thank you for your response :)
I have to say, this is the best transformation I’ve seen so far, you really motivated me. you look amazing and when I saw this I couldn’t help but think ”I can’t wait to get rid of those hips”, I just have a couple of questions, I wanna get the ankle weights and the stretch bands myself, do you recommend specific ones? I just searched on amazon.com and the comments were confusing, like someone says they work and someone else says it broke from the second or forth time of using, so you would save my life if you help me. because I’ve heard that the stretch bands that come with the program stretch too much after using them. so I really need your help, congratulations, you really got me hyped, you look amazingly amazing, your whole body changed, seriously your transformation hands down is the BEST! I wish that i’ll see results like yours, and also did you use shakeology? if I don’t use shakeology, will I see great results like yours? sorry for the endless questions. I just finished my insanity workout and it was amazing but I wanna get rid of those saddle bags and it seems like BBL is the answer, please help me, I really need it. thank you, and again, congratulations <3
Hi Jumm – thank you so much for your kind words! To answer your questions:
1. I purchased ankle weights at Walmart for under $20. I bought the Gold’s Gym brand that has lasted me just fine. They’re still in tact and hold onto my ankle just as tightly as when I first bought them. Sure, you can buy an awesome pair for $45 from Beachbody or Amazon, but I think these worked just fine. And Amazon can be confusing with the comments that are sometimes all over the place.
2. You definitely will need higher resistance stretch bands for BBL. The one that comes with the program is so stretchy from the very first time you use it, it’s basically useless after a week of getting stronger. The only downside when shopping for stretch bands is that they are a bit tougher to measure quality when purchasing, because not all are created equal. My experience…they’re not made to last – especially when doing Leandro’s crazy moves. I broke the lightest resistance band from a pack of three Fitness Gear ones I purchased at Dick’s Sporting Goods for $17, but that was after using it for about a month. Plus, $17 wasn’t going to break my budget thankfully. Unfortunately, the other two were a little too tough to really do all the moves properly, however, I did make use of them for some moves. The next set of three I purchased from Walmart, which I had to use the heaviest resistance band to even come close to the lightest resistance one from the bands from Dick’s. Again, I am pretty sure you buy them at TeamBeachbody.com.
3. You should definitely get Shakeology if you can. When doing BBL, I drank it almost every day. I still drink it, but just not quite as frequently. I love the ease of it. It works well as a snack by itself or mixed with something for a full meal replacement. It is also a great way to stay on the diet track if you’re like me and don’t like to eat only healthy things that take hours to prepare. I like easy. I particularly enjoyed mine in the morning when time was short, but also had it in the afternoon if it was really hot and I wanted something refreshing. Plus, it helps provide you with healthy ingredients and flushes toxins out of your system naturally, which will make you feel better – I know it gives my skin an awesome glow. If you’re going to try Shakeology, I recommend purchasing it on Home Direct shipping. This way, you get free shipping and you can cancel at any time…no questions asked. I liked the tropical strawberry mixed with frozen berries, but it is also tasty when mixed with a banana, kiwi, orange, etc. You can read my article on What is Shakeology here. I can’t tell you one way or another if your results will be as good without Shakeology, but I really believe it did help.
BBL will definitely help you get rid of the pesky saddlebags. I would follow the Classic schedule to get the most intense workout you can. You will love it. Plus, Leandro will be a fun treat after Shaun T :) Good luck, and if you can, let me know how things turn out!
thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it, you’re the only one who actually answered my questions! but I don’t know I want shakeology so bad but like dad says its too expensive and I don’t think he believes its that good and I cant order it myself, i hope he changes his mind! and do you know if i can find the booty bands in a store? like not online ?, i cant wait to start BBL i guess im starting next week, and i swear i cant stop thinking about how im gonna look after it :P its making me hyped for summer, becoz well i have a serious problem with my hips, i HATE them :P i was thinking of doing hip hop abs by shaun t with it but i don’t know yet :P , and also i just wanna ask about the ankle weights, how much do they use in BBL, i heard its 5 pounds right ? , and I’ve watched so many BBL transformation videos and your is the best so im hoping i get amazing results like yours ! i just wish i can meet you now so you could tell me exactly what to do to get those perfect results :P okay im talking too much sorry :P and umm can you like send me the 6 day supermodel slim down on email or something ? i totally understand if you cant or don’t want to, you’ve already helped enough, thank you again for the reply, i’ll keep you updated, you motivate me
Hello again! I understand what your dad is saying – it is very expensive. You will get good results without it. I just liked what it did for my energy and skin. Plus, it made my busy life easier just using the blender in the morning :) Just make sure you take a multivitamin.
I bought my booty bands from Dick’s Sporting Goods and Walmart. The ones from Dick’s were much better. They were Fitness Gear brand, and they were not expensive.
As for ankle weights, just be sure to buy a pair of 5 lb adjustable weights – each individual weight should go up to 5 lbs. Sometimes, they say 10 lbs, but just make sure they are 5+5=10 and not 10 lbs on each leg (way too much!) Silly, I know. I purchased Gold’s Gym brand at Walmart. And don’t apologize for asking questions, that’s what I’m here for. As for the Supermodel Slimdown, it should’ve been included in your BBL program. Depending on how old you are, I would strongly suggest NOT following the Slimdown plan as it is not healthy for a young lady – you should never cut your calories that much when you’re young, which is something else to consider before you begin the program…how many calories you will be eating.
Good luck! I’m sure you’ll do great. And if you need any help along the way, you can always ask via the comments, or you can also sign up for a free Team Beachbody account and make me your TeamBeachbody coach. That way, you can email me any time you need, and I will be there to coach you every step of the way and help keep you on track to getting you the hips you want by summertime – you still have plenty of time. BTW – Hip Hops Abs is really fun as an extra video, but BBL’s Tummy Tuck workout is a killer ab workout! Best I’ve ever experienced.
hey, again :P I started BBL im in my forth day, and so far I love it, but I haven’t used any weights yet so that’s okay right ? and I have a question that has been running thru my head, as you know insanity is very intense, and I used to do it before BBL, so I don’t know, BBL is easier so I don’t know, will I see results ? I mean like I don’t wanna lose the strength ive built with insanity so will it happen? , I mean, will I see results even though its easier?
Hello! If you feel like the program is not intense enough without the weights, I would suggest trying it out with the weights…it’s an entirely different experience. I suggest not using weights the first week if you’re not used to working out. And yes, as long as you stick with a healthy diet, use the recommended weights, and give every workout your all, you will get great results :) Good luck!
Your results are insane! You look incredible! I’m starting BBL now and I’m completely addicted. I don’t have any weight to lose, if anything, I’d probably need to gain a few pounds. With that being said, do I need to follow the diet program/calorie restrictions? What amount of calories would you reccommend? (I’m 5’2″)
You look phenomenal ! Keep up the good work!
Hi Anna, thanks for the compliment. For one thing, you do not have to follow the BBL diet, and you definitely don’t want to restrict calories if your trying to gain a bit of weight or maintain your current weight. With that said, your diet should still consist of lean proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats.
To calculate your daily caloric needs, we can do a simple 3 step equation. You first need to determine your basal metabolic rate (BMR), which can be done with the following Harris Benedict Equation:
BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) – ( 4.7 x age in years ).
You will then need to multiply your BMR times your activity level rating, which if you are doing BBL, is considered Heavy exercise (6–7 days per week) = BMR x 1.725
With the resulting number, you will want to add 250 to 300 calories, because you’re looking to add a little bit of weight, which should only be lean muscle mass.
If you want to comment back or email me at [email protected] with your age and weight, I can run the numbers for you. I hope this helps :)
Thank you for taking the time to give feedback/advice! That formula definitely helped. One last question–now that you’re done with BBL , what do you do for fitness? I will be done in a couple weeks and am trying to plan what to do next–I hate the square, straight body types methods like Tracy Anderson give you. I definitely love how BBL keeps your waist tiny, legs tiny, but still have feminine curves. I was considering pilates reformer or physique 57, have you heard anything about those?
Thanks again!
Hello again – Glad to hear the formula helped. Of course, the end number is never set in stone…if you find yourself gaining or losing weight, simply adjust your calories as needed.
Now that I’ve completed the BBL program, I have tried almost every workout program from Beachbody, in addition to the New York City Ballet workout DVD thrown in now and then.
Immediately following BBL, I did Insanity for about a month. Then, I started doing a hybrid schedule of the two, which proved to further tone me up and get rid of the last bit of unwanted fat I had and really lift my tush:) Now, I simply try to get at least five days of exercise in each week, including weights and cardio. Usually, it’s mixing and matching one of the many Beachbody workout DVDs I’ve collected, although sometimes, it’s just bringing our two young dogs for a very long, brisk walk. I am starting the BBL Master Series next week, which I will review online as I do each workout and keep everyone posted.
As for a pilates reformer and Physique 57, I have heard of both. The pilates reformer is a wonderful tool…if you know how to use it properly :) Otherwise, you run the risk of injuring yourself, which I have known many people to do without full knowledge. There are plenty of DVDs you can purchase for the reformer for better instruction, although I always feel like at least one personal instruction from a trained professional can really help. Personally, I love pilates for the longer, lean look it gets me with just enough muscle tone, but I would also suggest doing some other form of real cardio to keep your heart healthy if you choose to go that route.
As for Physique 57, the reviews are positive, however, I’ve never tried it. It seems pretty good, but I really can’t tell you either way – something I think I might need to try out! You might also enjoy something like Yoga Booty Ballet (described as a fun, spirited, and sexy workout) or Turbo Jam (which is described as a workout that doesn’t feel like work), which are two of my favorite workout programs. Both give you exercises to shape you nicely – plus, they’re really fun too, which is something I need to keep me interested.
You look AWESOME girl! Your results are insane!! I started BBL 3 days ago and I’m so sore its ridiculous — I originally wanted to do BBL with Turbo Fire, but then thought maybe id just do Insanity, or do BBL with Insanity (I bought BBL, Turbo Fire, Insanity, and P90X off craigslist for 200$ – couldnt pass up that steal! lol) Do you have any experience with any of the other BeachBody workouts?
The first day I did the BBL workout and then the Fit Test off Insanity and holey moley I was sore yesterday! So i thought I’d do BBL first to get more in shape before doing Insanity — but know I’m thinking when Im not too sore (maybe in a few weeks) to maybe do both programs, does this seem like too much? Im 5″6 171lbs so I wanna loose about 20lbs, more would be ideal lol. I’m not following the diet program but I am doing Weight Watchers so I assume that should be good? (I’m not eating any fast or processed foods) – lots of good crockpot meals, greek yogurt, salads, veggies and fruit, and water. Let me know what you think – so far the scale hasn’t moved, but ive been on WW for about 2 weeks now so not much water weight hanging around to drop off right away, but I’ll make sure to keep an eye on my measurements!. :)
Hi Sara, congratulations on your decision to lose weight! Having experience with almost every Beachbody workout, I would suggest doing BBl first – try doing the Classic schedule, and then work your way up to the other programs. I did a round of Insanity after BBL and was surprised at how much easier it was to do than when I tried to do Insanity a while back when my bf did. I would definitely NOT do more than one program at a time – it’s counterproductive. Plus, every program is difficult enough on its own.
Your soreness will lessen as your body gets used to working out. I lost almost 20 lbs in 60 days on the BBL program, so I think BBL would get you well on your way to reaching your weight loss goals. Then if you choose Insanity for afterwards, that will just kick the rest of the stubborn fat in the butt. As long as you are eating a well-balanced diet full of whole foods, you should be fine. One thing I would do is keep track of everything you eat to ensure you’re not eating too many calories (i think you might be able to do this with WW online, but not 100% positive), and you’re eating a good ratio of lean proteins to carbs to heart healthy fats. If the scale still doesn’t move too much after working out a full week, I would try cutting your calories back a little to see what happens (lessen your points slightly :)). BBL would start you at 1600 calories per day. I know you get extra points for if you work out, but I would try not adding these extras on if you can tolerate it – at least for a short time to see how much you’re losing each week. Just remember that, for sustained weight loss, you should never lose more than 2 lbs per week after the first week you start dieting and exercising. Otherwise, you’ll just put everything back on. Good luck!
Hi! YOU LOOK AWESOME! seriously. Your progress really motivated me to purchase the basic kit! It’s still coming in the mail but I am trying to figure out how you got such amazing results! I want to do the same thing to beable to get such amazing results! So….
1. Should I purchase my own ankle weights because it doesnt come in the kit?
2. What kind of diet did you go on?? That is one thing I am really bad at so I need advice for dieting.
3. Did you follow the calendar exercises and nothing else for exercises? or did you add in a few exercises also?
Thank you so much! :) and congratulations on your awesome results!
Hi Kaleigh – thank you very much for your kind words. I have an article about My 10 Tips to Get the Best Brazil Butt Lift results ever, which should steer you in the right direction to getting the best possible results. This article has everything you need to get the best results. But, to answer your individual questions, here are my suggestions:
1. Yes, purchase your own ankle weights. I bought a pair from Walmart that went up to 5 lbs on each ankle. The first week, I didn’t use them, and each week after, I’d go up on the weight as needed until I was using the whole 5 lbs on each leg. Something I didn’t even think was possible, since it hurt so bad the first time I did High & Tight without any weight. You’ll be surprised how much stronger you get each week. And honestly, it’s the muscle you build that will help slim you down and get leaner, legs.
2. I basically followed the Fat-Burning Foods guide and ate 1400 calories each day. If you have a lot of weight to lose, you can always do something like the Fat Shredder Diet for a few weeks too. The BBL diet plan really has some yummy recipes that you can substitute if there’s something you don’t like, and the meals were filling enough. If I got really hungry, I would eat one of the 50-100 calorie recommended snacks. If I didn’t follow a recipe from the diet plan, I would eat in ratios of 40/30/30 protein/carbs/fat, which slims me down very easily. Even when not following the diet exactly, I ate cleanly with lots and lots of boneless chicken breast dressed in different ways to keep me interested. I plan on writing a detailed list of what I ate on the program and will let you know as soon as it’s done :)
My advice if you find it difficult to diet is really try to do the Supermodel Slimdown first. This 6-day fat burner is hard, and you may get grumpy or tired, but it really helps you get rid of the waste build-up in your body and gets your body used to healthy foods, which gets you ready for the 60-day road ahead. You will be surprised at how different you’ll look by the end of the six days, which will really help motivate you.
And if you’re having trouble with your diet, I can always help you set up a diet plan that doesn’t involve too much cooking or too many ingredients. I hated cooking during the hot summer, so what I found easiest was making the food in advance, so I’d always have something to grab if I got hungry. And to help keep my junk food-loving cravings at bay, I would enjoy such things as toasted (in olive oil) panko flake crusted chicken breast fingers and homemade whole wheat pizza crust with low fat cheese and all-natural, sugar-free pizza sauce. The other trick to surviving the diet if you’ve had trouble in the past is to be creative with the ingredients you’re allowed to eat.
3. I did follow the calendar exercises to the best of my ability. I would usually do the workouts at separate times in the day, which worked better with my scheduling and beginner fitness level. On the rest days, I would take the dogs for a walk, do yoga or even just one of the shorter workouts from the deluxe kit upgrade to not be entirely immobile, but other than that, I stuck closely to the calendar. The only changes I made were switching out the Classic schedule’s weeks in the second round to mix things up, and I sometimes would substitute Bum Bum Rapido for Bum Bum, Abs Rapido for Tummy Tuck, and Rio Extreme for Sculpt mostly in the second month and not very often. You can get Abs Rapido and Rio Extreme in the Deluxe Upgrade kit if you’re interested, though they are not necessary to getting great results – I just needed some different workouts to keep my interest peaked.
Good luck, and if you have any more questions along the way or need anything, just let me know!
I just did my first work out– Bum Bum and I am feeling very discouraged! I couldn’t finish it, I was so exhausted that I couldn’t even lounge anymore. Did you run into that at all in the beginning of the program??Does it get better? Sorry to bother you again!
Kaleigh – please, don’t get discouraged and don’t apologize for asking questions! Bum Bum is an extremely difficult workout that took me about five weeks to be able to actually finish without pausing or missing a few moves. My first time was terrible – I almost wanted to quit the entire program thinking it was all going to be too hard my non-existent fitness level. The good news is that it will get easier with time – during my last week, I was shocked when reflecting on how I felt during the first time I did the workout. What you need to do is use the pause button when/if you need to catch your breath, walk it out when you need to, and just do the movements to the best of your ability. Whether this means doing a half lunge, or doing half as many lunges as they’re doing, just go with it. It will get better with time, I promise. Good luck!
Thank you for this…..i seriously wanted to quit on the first day and i had to pause for a few just to breathe. Today was my first day..
Hi Krista, BBL is a tough workout, so just push as hard as you safely can and do it at your own pace. I had trouble with the workouts in the beginning too, pausing for breathers, but each week, I could feel myself getting stronger and lasting longer until finally one day, I could do the workouts at the same speed the women in the video did.
You will get there too…just continue to stick with it. The most important thing you did today was kept going and you did not quit. So, congratulations! Keep up the good work, stay strong, and stay dedicated. This is the only way you’re going to get the body you’ve always wanted.
Im on my 3rd week of the Pear shaped program I have been watching what I eat with a few cheating here and there. On top of that I jog 2 hours a week and go to 1 intense bootcamp class a week and i havent lost an inch. You were lucky girl!! I am going to continue because I am feeling stronger I just wish I had more inches to show for :(
Hi Malka, I’m troubled by the fact you haven’t lost even an inch in three weeks, but it’s not the end of the world. The worst thing you can do now is give up, so I’m glad to hear you’re going to continue with the program – use this slight setback as fuel to push harder during your workouts.
Without knowing your beginning and current weight as well as your height or whether or not you were already exercising previously, it is difficult for me to tell you exactly what could be the reason for this “plateau”. Are you looking any different? Do you see more muscle tone? Needless to say, I would not give up on the program’s promises just yet – my results were not due to luck…I worked hard and really watched what I was eating – something I’d never really done before :)
My initial thoughts are that you’re doing too much, and/or you need to tweak your diet/calorie intake. The program is not intended to be used in conjunction with other exercise, so you may just be doing overdoing it. We all want to lose weight fast, but doing too much, can actually prevent weight loss.
Are you following the recommended diet plan for the most part? If not, you could easily be overeating without even realizing or not eating enough calories if you haven’t made necessary adjustments for the extra exercise you’re doing. It is really easy not to lose weight or inches when you are starving yourself.
The best way to avoid either fate is to keep track of everything you’re eating with an online calorie calculator like MyFitnessPal and make sure you’re measuring out your portions even when you do have your seldom treats. It is VERY easy to overestimate what 4 ounces of chicken really looks like. Even really good-for-you foods can hinder weight loss if eaten in large quantities. And regarding cheating on your diet, it’s one thing to have a chocolate chip cookie, but it’s another thing entirely to eat a whole box. My advice would be to really limit your treats to once a week or less. It’s only for 60 days.
Another idea for you is, if you feel like the slim & shape program is not doing it for you, which is why you’re also doing your jogging and class, you should consider switching your workout calendar to the Classic schedule, which combines more cardio into the program and doubles-up on workouts for almost every day of the week. This is the program I did, and while I did have some fat to lose, I was mainly doing it for the best possible overall results.
You might even want to start at week one of the Classic schedule for one week, really watch what your diet and calories, then see if there’s a difference by the end of week one – no outside exercising! You can always go back to jogging and your classes 60 days from now. Good luck, and if you haven any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Any time you’re frustrated, just take a deep breath and keep pushing…you will get there, I promise!
What routine did you do when you did bbl. I just ordered it and I am shaped kind of like your before. I’m debating between the pear shape or the classic. And info would help thanks!
Hello, I followed the Classic schedule for my too large, pear-shaped, “combination” butt. I think if you’re shaped even sort of like I was, the Classic schedule would definitely help you get rid of any extra fat, while slimming down your hips. Good luck, and if you should have any questions along the way, please feel free to ask – I am happy to help :)
I really didn’t see a result for a while because i kept eating fast foods, but when i stopped, i could see a big result. Now, i need to find a workout to shrink that loose fat.
Diet is extremely important when trying to get in shape – you really won’t get the results you want if you’re eating junk food around the clock. I am happy to hear you were able to see some real results after you’d stopped eating fast foods. Depending on your age, the loose fat should disappear on its own in time with continued diet and exercising. Any of Beachbody’s many workouts could help you along with this such as trying a different schedule of the Brazil Butt Lift program, moving on to the Brazil Butt Lift Master Series, or even trying out Insanity.
