I am often asked by people how I am able to work part-time from home as Beachbody Coach.
Despite what many others think, a Team Beachbody Coach really is not about the extra income you can earn – at least it has nothing to do with why I decided to become a coach. Instead, being a Team Beachbody Coach is all about helping others achieve their health & fitness goals, allowing them to lead a healthier and more fulfilling life. It really helps me feel whole at the end of the day to be able to reach out and help so many others feel good about themselves while reaching their health and fitness goals.
I am Not a Fitness Expert
A lot of people believe you have to be a fitness guru to be a Beachbody Coach, which totally untrue. Coaches don’t train people, they are there to motivate and guide others to help them achieve their weight loss goals. This is not to say you can’t provide others with useful diet and exercise tips, it just means you don’t have to have any prior experience to become a coach.
Beachbody produces the best-selling workouts for many reasons, but the primary reason is that their programs take the guesswork out of getting in shape…and they really work! All of the workout programs whether it be P90X, INSANITY, Brazil Butt Lift or any other workout, provide a detailed workout schedule and easy-to-follow nutrition guide.
Provide Support & Motivation
To give you an idea of what it means to be a Beachbody coach, here is a recent question I received from a 32-year old woman who was getting ready to start the Brazil Butt Lift workout program:
“Hi Bethany, I am starting the BBL program, but am unsure which program to choose. I am pear shaped (my weight/fat mostly concentrates in thighs, butt and hips), but am after gaining weight, way too wobbly in these areas. I am therefore interested in burning the highest possible amount of fat while gaining more muscle and shape. I don’t have a problem with the “lift” part though. I am unsure whether I should choose the pear, the too big or the classic solution plan – it would be really helpful if you could recommend the best “solution” plan for this problem! :)”
Basically, she is asking me what schedule I would recommend for her to follow. After exchanging a few emails (and images of herself), we decided the classic schedule was the best program for her to follow with her current schedule and weight loss goals. So now, every couple of weeks, I still check in to see how she is progressing with the program.
Not a Salesperson!
One of the biggest myths I hear is that a Beachbody Coach is a salesperson trying to sell fitness programs to everyone they know. While not every Beachbody coach has the same ethics as myself, I became a coach so that I could help people decide on the right program and diet to suit their own needs, as well as give people the best possible coaching experience they could want while doing their Beachbody, or any other, workout program. This is why I feel I have been pretty successful so far. I never attempt to sell anyone anything they are not already looking for – I simply point them in the right direction to help them spend their money wisely…not purchase a workout program that is way beyond their abilities to have them quit within a week.
When I first purchased my BBL kit, I had no idea you were assigned a coach until I received my first email from him a week after I’d received it. He asked me how I was doing with the workout and if I had any questions for him so far. Although he had never finished the BBL program himself, he was very knowledgeable about fitness in general and knew every workout I was talking about enough to give me some really sound advice. It really helped me feel at ease despite me being a little concerned by the fact they had assigned me a male coach, lol!
As a Coach, I have never tried to sell anything for my own monetary gain – I may recommend a fitness program to someone who is trying to decide between a fitness program like P90X or INSANITY, but I would never push any other products in anyone’s face that I would not purchase myself or that would not help them better achieve their fitness goals.
While not every coach is there to help – I do know of some who are very into pushing you to buy products and then are no help once you’re their customer.
Transform Lives
There is no better feeling than knowing I have helped someone hit their weight loss goal for their wedding or have helped someone overcome a negative self image of themselves after college, pregnancy, or just taking some time off from working out. If you’ve always had it in your heart you wanted to help others in some way and are passionate about health & fitness, you should seriously consider becoming a coach.
Passion for Change
Do you want to help others in some way, but don’t know where to start? If you only want to become a Beachbody Coach for the income potential, coaching is definitely not for you because there is no guarantee you will ever sell anything. You just need to possess a genuine desire to help other people to be a great Beachbody Coach. You also have to have an interest in the health industry and our country’s growing obesity epidemic, otherwise, it’s a lost cause.
