Are You Ready to LIIFT MORE? My Full Workout Review

When you think about Beachbody workouts, P90X, INSANITY or 21 Day Fix might come to mind. But did you know one of their most popular workout programs is Joel Freeman’s LIIFT4 workout?

Check out that! It shows up first when searching for the most popular workout programs on Beachbody On Demand.

And with the huge success of Beachbody’s LIIFT4 at-home workout program, they came out with a follow-up workout: LIIFT MORE!

Can’t wait to try it out?

Exclusive! Try the a sample workout here or read the rest of my LIIFT MORE review below to find out if this workout program is the right one to reach your goals.

What Is LIIFT MORE?

LIIFT MORE is Team Beachbody’s newest strength training workout program created by Joel Freeman.

Released to Beachbody On Demand via VIP Early Access August 2nd 2022, it’s a sequel to LIIFT4. And like LIIFT4, LIIFT MORE will get you a leaner, stronger body in just 8 weeks using a blend of classic weightlifting, HIIT, and core training.

I was able to get an exclusive early access preview to the program for the past couple weeks , and I can tell you that LIIFT MORE brings the right balance of strength training, cardio and flexibility training to get you great results.

It’s very approachable and doesn’t overcomplicate lifting. It’s definitely not a muscle mass only program if that’s something you’re worried about.

Is LIIFT MORE Good for Beginners?

LIIFT MORE is considered an intermediate/advanced workout program in the Beachbody On Demand library. However, it utilizes foundational exercises, which are perfect for all fitness levels even if you haven’t done LIIFT4 yet.

As a beginner, you’ll definitely be able to follow along. You may have to follow the modifier at times, and that’s always okay. Even more advanced fitness level people need to follow the modifier sometimes.

Why Is It Called LIIFT MORE?

Because you can expect more from LIIFT MORE.

Like one more workout day a week, more workout sets, more calories burned, and even more muscle than ever before. But not bulky muscle unless that’s what you’re going for, which is a lot of nutrition vs working out.

The Training Principle Behind LIIFT MORE

LIIFT MORE uses a simple, proven formula of effective classic weight lifting moves combined with HIIT training and targeted core work. HIIT training is simply high intensity interval training that’s designed to maximize calorie burn.

Meet the Trainer Behind LIIFT MORE

Joel Freeman is the Beachbody Super Trainer behind the LIIFT MORE, LIIFT4 and 10 Rounds workout programs, as well as the co-creator of the Core de Force workout program.

Joel is an NASM certified personal trainer with over 15 years experience helping people change their lives by transforming their bodies.

When describing his personality, I’d say that he’s a little goofy and keeps it light. He’s definitely not as over-the-top as Tony Horton was (and why Tony some people found him too much at times), but Joel still has that factor that can make you smile even when the work gets hard.

Joel is very good at explaining the form of every exercise move effectively, making sure you’re doing them the right way and not putting yourself at increased injury risk.

He also keeps you motivated, making you want to lift more and go heavier with proper form. And the workouts are friendly and definitely don’t intimidate thanks to Joel’s training style.

Do You Have to Do LIIFT4 First?

LIIFT MORE is one of those sequels that you do not have to do the original before to complete the program. And that’s coming from Joel Freeman himself, which I totally agree with after having done a couple of rounds of LIIFT4 myself.

Joel designed them to be two entirely different workouts – they do not need to be completed in any particular order.

LIIFT MORE simply builds on the foundational concepts from LIIFT4, creating an even more effective workout.

The Differences Between LIIFT4 vs LIIFT MORE

LIIFT4LIIFT MORE
4 scheduled workouts each week5 scheduled workouts each week
Scheduled HIIT workoutNo scheduled HIIT workout
6 week build phase with 2 week peak phase4 week build phase with 4 week peak phase
1 leg workout each week2 leg workouts each week

In LIIFT4, you did a HIIT workout that focused on legs every other leg day. In LIIFT MORE, you separate the different parts of leg to leave you with more sculpted and well-defined legs.

LIIFT MORE Workouts & Schedule

LIIFT MORE is an 8-week long workout program broken down into 2 phases for month 1 and month 2.

  • Phase 1: This phases focuses mostly on building strength and mass.
  • Phase 2: This phase kicks up the intensity to get you leaner and more defined.

What the LIIFT MORE Workouts Are Like

Each workout in LIIFT MORE is 30-45 minutes long. They’ll help you build muscle without having to spend hours at the gym.

Each day focuses on specific muscle groups. On days you lift, there is also a burnout round that were a killer in the original program. And on the Lift/HIIT days, you’ll do the specific muscle group with HIIT training.

You’ll have 5 scheduled workouts each week. Then on days 6 and 7, you can either do a rest/recovery workout or choose from something on BODi.

And none of the workouts ever repeat, so you get 40 unique workouts shot in real-time.

Don’t know what BODi is? Read my BODi review.

Here’s a breakdown of the LIIFT MORE Phase 1 workouts:

  • Day 1: LIFT Chest & Biceps
  • Day 2: LIFT/HIIT Quads & Calves
  • Day 3: LIFT Back & Triceps
  • Day 4: LIFT/HIIT Hamstrings & Glutes
  • Day 5: LIFT Shoulders
  • Day 6/7: Rest/Recovery

Here’s the breakdown of LIIFT MORE Phase 2 workouts:

  • Day 1: LIFT Legs
  • Day 2: LIFT/HIIT Chest & Back
  • Day 3: LIFT Shoulders
  • Day 4: LIFT/HIIT More Legs
  • Day 5: LIFT Arms
  • Day 6/7: Rest/Recovery

For each move in LIIFT MORE, expect one more set of each move. Instead of doing two sets of each exercise, you’ll be doing mainly three sets of each exercise.

It’s more classic weight lifting moves that work, sometimes with a new spin that you don’t often see.

Is There a Modifier in the LIIFT MORE Workouts?

Yes, there’s a dedicated modifier to show you a less intense version of the moves if one’s available. There really isn’t too much modification on the weight lifting moves, but for HIIT or higher intensity/impact moves, expect lesser impact options.

This helps make the program more accessible for people of all fitness levels.

About the LIIFT MORE Bonus Workouts

When you purchase LIIFT MORE, you also get access to 9 LIIFT Express workouts that are perfect for when you’re short on time and just can’t get the full workout in. These are around 20 minutes each vs the regular 30-45 minutes.

What to Do On Your LIIFT MORE Rest/Recovery Days

I’d suggest doing a recovery workout from BOD/BODi or yoga on one of your days off, then a very light cardio or long walk on the other day that takes you outside in the fresh air. Long walks in nature can be very therapeutic!

However, it’s also useful to take a full day off from working out if you need it. Listen to your body and what you feel like doing.

Pro tip. When you first start, you may need to take two full rest days. And as you progress, you may want to do more activity on your rest days.

I always like doing a yoga or gentle workout on my rest days, which I sometimes find on Alo Moves. Find out more in my Alo Moves review.

What Equipment Do You Need for LIIFT MORE?

You need a set of weights for LIIFT More AND an adjustable workout bench is highly recommended to make the most of the moves. Joel recommends having light, medium and heavy weights.

Having 5-15lb weights is a good place to start, although as you progress and see the results happening, you’ll probably want to go heavier. I know when I did 645, I was using 40lb weights a lot. Something I never thought I would use. But I also got pretty amazing results.

LIIFT MORE is all about weight lifting. Think of incline bench presses, seated iso curls, step-ups, and more. And for doing these moves correctly and getting the full benefits, you will need the bench.

Do You Really Need a Workout Bench for LIIFT MORE?

I’m usually the first one to tell you that you don’t really need that extra piece of equipment or there’s a less expensive alternative, but this is one time I’d strongly recommend using a weight bench.

It makes such an incredible difference in your workout – and it’s an investment. While it’s definitely not mandatory and you can do the workout without it, you’re just not going to get the same results.

The bench will help you get the most variety from the workout and the best range of motion to maximize the effectiveness of each move. Here’s what your bench needs to be able to do:

  • Sturdy enough to step up onto
  • Adjustable to reach 45° and 90°

Here’s my favorite multi-adjustable workout bench from Core Home Fitness. After doing a lot of research on different benches out there, this is by far one of the best and most affordable options.

It’s also the same bench they use in the workouts, so you know you’ll be able to do everything they do and get the results you want.

Need weights, too? This workout bench and adjustable weight set will help you save on space and money. While you will need to adjust weights between sets, it’s similar to how long it would take you to switch out weights if you had multiple sets lined up in front of you.

And best of all, this set provides you with weights ranging from 5-50lbs, which can get really expensive if you purchased separately. Also, you won’t have to scramble around for the weight you need or have a large storage space for all the different weight options.

However if you really can’t afford a bench, you could use an exercise ball and chair to do most of the moves. It won’t be exact, but it could work.

What LIIFT MORE Nutrition is Like

If you follow the proper nutrition, you will get a leaner, stronger body following the LIIFT MORE program and lifting as heavy as you safely can.

You will not get overly bulky lifting weights with LIIFT MORE even if you reach for the 35lb weights. There are ways you could gain more muscle mass, but your diet would look different than if you’re trying to lose weight and tone up.

Luckily, there are two nutrition program options to choose from with LIIFT MORE: 2B Mindset & Portion Fix to get you the results you’re looking for.

Both nutrition programs focus on turning unhealthy habits into healthier ones, so you can continue to eat healthy long after the program is done and you’ve reached your health and fitness goals.

What People Are Getting for LIIFT MORE Results

Because this was just recently released, I don’t have any of my own transformation photos to share yet, but I did create a collage of official program test group members to share.

It should be mentioned that a number of these test group participants did do more than 8 weeks of the program. All followed the exact program AND used the Joel Stack Beachbody performance supplements to get their results.

I’m not seeing the Joel Stack available as an actual product right now, but these are the following supplements Joel recommends to maximize your results for the program:

  • Shakeology to replace one meal of the day and maximize fat loss.
  • Energize for more power and stamina during your workouts.
  • Hydrate to help your system function optimally throughout your workouts with electrolytes.
  • Recover to help accelerate muscle synthesis and recovery after workout.
  • Recharge to help promote muscle regrowth overnight while you sleep with slow-digesting protein.

As you can see from the results, you can expect major fat loss, multiple inches lost, and a more athletic appearance if you dedicate yourself.

    1. The workout schedule and weight tracker sheet are located under the “Program Materials” on the third navigation bar on the main Lift More page.

      1. May I offer my input to your very well explained review?
        Thank you.
Why would I want to go from Lifft 4 to Lifft More when in essence it is not necessary.
Since the Lifft More concept is to do additional sets and reps, I can very simply add sets and reps in Lifft 4 to match those of Lifft More, and change it from 4 days to 5.
        There you have it.
Beach Body does serve a purpose, but please how many ways does a person need to workout?
Training is made up of three essentials.
        Strength training, cardio/Hitt, flexibility work.
        That’s it!
I trust that my input has been welcomed and appreciated.

      2. Thanks! Personally, I find that about the third time through a program they start to get repetitive, not just the exercises but hearing the same commentary gets to me. Regarding the number of ways a person needs to workout, it ultimately depends on personal goals and preferences. While strength training, cardio/HIIT, and flexibility work are essential components of a well-rounded fitness program, some people may prefer to mix up their routine with different types of workouts or programs depending on goals. People are also at all different fitness levels and I know I can’t workout the same as I used even just ten years ago so I do like all the different workouts Bodi has.
